I know a lot of you are generally prepared or even very specifically prepared for a bunch of disaster scenarios. Most of which are pretty severe (natural disaster, TEOTWAWKI, disease outbreaks, war, etc.)
But how do you handle being prepared for losing your right or ability to be prepared at all times? Things that are outside your control like laws, medication, etc.
There are many laws on the books and being proposed which will infringe on your right to prepare. Do you actively fight to keep/regain the right to own the best guns, enough ammo, certain types of knives, enough extra gas at your house or in your car, your own well, etc., or do you have a backup plan to deal with the loss of these rights? I'm assuming you will stay within the law (even if a specific law is unjust) on this question.
How do those of you who live in more restrictive societies which won't let you have knives, guns, slingshots, etc. handle this?
How about those of you who rely on medicine or other medical equipment/treatment to keep you healthy or even alive? How do you prepare to go for extended periods without these things?
There is a lot of talk about being prepared for this or that, but not so much about being prepared to lose your ability to be prepared before a disaster hits.

Well as far as the weapon issue goes as I see it you can break the law and be prepared or follow it and lose most if not all your ability to survive. I get back shots every 3 months to stay as active as I like to be but if they go away I will just have to tone back the physical activities.

Very good Question MD. For many of us on insulin or pills like patty and I are, it MIGHT be a death sentence. We can regulate our diabetes with food alone (at least to a point) but for others this is not possible. Also for those that have much more serious problems. You can only stock up so many months of medications until they will no longer be viable.

A=Regarding rights you fight to keep them before they are lost. Fight like the third monkey trying to get on the ark.

Unfortunately, MOST will scream and holler, but NOT actually take any action.

I have been handed my backside more than once for actually speaking up and taking action. BUT, I'll do it again if it is something I believe in, something that is a RIGHT not something the governments says they will allow us to do.

LOL I am stuck at the pay grade I am because I won't just roll over and take it like a dog, but I am much happier making a little less (like 50 bucks a check) knowing I still have my integrity intact. I have tea party and DTOM stickers on all my cars the bureau must love it when I am parked there. I do believe that parts of the government are necessary I just believe we are way past that point.

My PERSONAL opinion, is that the Government is WAY out of bounds on a lot of things. And NOT just on firearms related matters either.

So, I'd like to keep this thread a little less political, but I understand your answers and your frustration because I feel it too.
But back to my original question, what is your backup plan for no longer being able to have your firearms of choice, or pocket knives, etc.?
Downgrade to the best available/legal firearms, like a shotgun, and carry a small fixed blade instead of a pocket knife (which might be a better choice anyway)? Downgrade to a crossbow or bow when/if this choice becomes socially unacceptable? Many countries won't allow you to own even a crossbow or slingshot.
How about no longer being allowed to carry a large fixed blade in your ghb or bob?
How about the contents of your car? Are you allowed to haul a 20 gallon can of gas in your car outside your gas tank?
Are you allowed/near a well or other independent water source, if not, what is your plan for a water source?
