Well, for the farm scene a .50 cal. probably wouldn't have worked...maybe a flame-thrower tank? I think a .22 provides the ability to carry a lot of ammo, and a Scrapizashi or larger sword would keep them far enough away from you so you don't get scratched and infected.

while I like the idea of the .22, my bolt action cz not going to have the firepower I would want. So, I'd go with my AR with my Battle Rat.
While watching the show, I did think a number of times that if 1/2 the group had ruger 10/22's with 5-10 25 round mags, they could kick some zombie butt...

Bolt action Remington 700P 308 for its ability of getting the bullet out there at a distance and limited exposure. The limited moving parts is plus also. Would go for a medium copper like the chopweiler.

Keep ammo availability and weight in mind.

I am very fond of the .32acp round. It would be nice if there were a bold action rifle chambered for that in a 16 inch barrel. It would be a good substance round on small game up to coyote size. Would probably work on deer, but I would hate to try it. BUT I wouldn't want it to by my primary/only round. I would prefer the .22 for a one and only if I could only have one.

My one uncle used a 256 magnum on deer for years Always 1 shot 1 kill I would not recommend it but he did it (always close range)

Well it kind of cracks me up that I am even discussing this but I must admit the thought has crossed my mind. While I can see the value of a .22 LR for all of the reasons posted and it would definitely be my second choice in a rifle it will never be my first. If I can have only one rifle it is going to be my BCM build AR .223. .22LR might stop the dead with head shots but they also could ricochet around the skull and do nothing. Also .22 LR occasionally don't work (duds) and if they are out in the sun and get hot the wax can melt to the point that they jam a good bit in a semi auto. This all could ruin your day in a mad rush of WD. All of that is supposing that the WD is the only thing you will have to fight which as we have seen is not the case. Oh yes, I would like mine suppressed as well too.
Since most of the military would also be WD there should be a lot of 5.56 laying around.
As for knives I am torn. I probably will have to go with my 911 but I sure would like a sword.....

Most were running, double lung shots and all were one shot kills. (FYI this was because of new chronic wasting regs. that required a lot of money for testing and put a local deer farm out of business. Meat was donated to food banks.)
