Our local police range is only 25 yards, but I use #3 buckshot and it did pretty good at that range. covering the whole mansize torso target at that range with all the pellets. PLUS I fired off 3 slugs in about 5-7 seconds, and it kept them all in a group you could cover with the bottom of a coke can. I was impressed it would shoot slugs that well. Wow, that is impressive! I must admit that my groupings are nowhere near that good, even on 25m ranges! I consider myself lucky on the group size. I was just impressed that the smoothbore would hold it together that close. I know it's only 25 yards, but still....

I daren't go out of the house/garden with any of my knives! The justice system has an automatic jail sentence for carrying knives without "good reason"

Gah, I want to go shooting again now! Unfortunately the only shooting we do is prone and it's mostly cadets that get to shoot, rarely the adults

Yeah one summer we had a BAD problem with Skunks. The preacher at the end of the block asked me If I could come down with it and get rid of this skunk that had taken up residency under their front porch. At somewhere around 60-70 feet I shot it in the back of the head and must have broken it's spine. It tried crawling off using only it's front legs. I put another round in its head and it was over. That summer and into fall I killed I think Patty said 12 skunks with it, only one sprayed, and that was very little. Now the city killed 6 or 7 and used a .410. They stunk up the place something fierce.
So folks around the neighborhood started calling me "The Skunk Hunter".

Gah, I want to go shooting again now! Unfortunately the only shooting we do is prone and it's mostly cadets that get to shoot, rarely the adults When I first got my .177 I was stationed at Pope AFB in Fayetteville North Carolina, right next to Ft. Bragg. Anyway, I bought a steel .22 bullet trap and shot inside my apartment! I could actually get a 10-12 yard range out of it.

A bullet trap isn't a bad idea. Unfortunately we've got four cats though, so I wouldn't like to try shooting even in the garden

Put a 4 power scope on it and that thing (With me shooting and I'm not a marksman) would shoot groups that you could cover with a nickel. Got a few that a dime would cover, but they were rare. Not because of the rifle, but because I'm not the best shot in the world. I've never been a one hole group kind of guy.
