DT, using your own breakdown it is clearly a Gold handled color (Could Orange be said to be a golden color) knife used to eviscerate game animals, ergo a skinning kinfe. You have your Muk! Elementary my dear Watson (Or sorry, Dear DT). And it's the Skunk for the win!

i'm guessing a differentially heat treated 12C27 blade.
i'm also going with satin and inexpensive.

I can see the 12C27 as it's inexpensive (definitely fits the Scrapyard's ethos!). Is there a benefit to differential heat treating 12C27? I know that it's sometimes done to choppers or throwers but I don't think I've heard of it done to stainless. Just a thought.

i don't know anything about 12C27 but i googled it an it seems some people have done it. don't know if there's any benefits. i'm just guessing there would be some scraps left from daggers. might make for some nice orange handled scrappers. maybe we are looking at a woodcraft blade.

Dogs I am close to announcing one of the new projects that I have been working on. So in grand Yard tradition here are some hints: 1. The steel is different and found during a dumpster dive 2. Contains C 3. It lacks coloris aurei palpates...I hope I got that right Give it a shot Dan A hint on the steel may be found in a post from a Boss Hog aficionado
