A guy in our department has an M14 that I've got to shoot a few times, and I really like it. It's a milsurp gun, even still has the full-auto switch on it. No need for that for me, but I like the gun. It's hard to keep a full-auto rifle like the M-14 on target; it's really not necessary.

I had an L1A1 several years ago. Gave it to the B-I-L so he could pay back mortgage on the place he pawned cause he was to "Distraught" for TWO YEARS after his Dad's death to go back to work!

I can't keep a M-16 on target on full auto, after 4-5 rounds I'm just punching holes in the air. I'm just as effective on semi-auto and probably place more rounds on target.

Just my personal opinion, I guess there IS a reason, sometimes,for full auto. But I think that a 2 or 3 round burst per trigger pull is most effective, after single shot of course.

We shot an old Thompson sub-machine gun last time. Had the drum magazine, full auto from the hip. Fun times.
