Was that Finn marked Luger (Parabellum) 9mm or 7,65mm? I haven´t ever shot one but I kinda like the model. My friend has a 7,65mm Parabellum he says it´s quite accurate. he had some problems with the mag though.

At the moment all I have is a Martinni (I think that is how you spell it), and a Rapala fish knife. I want to get a nice size blade that has nice birch handle to go along with this small one. The small one I have is probably for a kid. Another one I would like is the one that has the horse head on the pommel. I think it is a region specific maker.

War Dog has features that I´d like to change and after those changes it would look very much like the Fällkniven H1...

The H1 looks like a nice blade for sure. I held a Fallkniven once and I was impressed for the simplicity and usefulness of the blade. I am really liking the Scandi grind lately.

The Luger was a 7.65 Mauser, which made it a pre Winter War contract pistol. I have talked with a few people who love the 7.65 Mauser round.

Horse head is a traditional decorative detail. Small knives have been used for wood carving and other hand crafts. One way to measure suitable leght of a puukko is to measure the widhth of your palm and make the blade equal length.

I like the birch bark and leather handles. Curly birch is also nice. Just email me if you think I could help you with puukkos or something. Allthough the internet makes it easy to operate over seas.

t1, thanks on the info on blade size. The Martinni that I have is a full handle but the blade is about 2 1/2" long. We used it to carve pumpkins for Halloween and it barely got through the thick rind.

Will do. Is there one maker that you would suggest? I am looking for good quality without the mass production of a company like Gerber.

I need to know your budget first... Quality comes with a price tag. wink

Marttiini and Iisakki Järvenpää both have traditional models but they are not hand forged.

One traditional model is Tommi puukko (like your Tommy gun) and a big traditional model is leuku (lapplanders tool for every job).

Usually puukko is quite short and thin bladed to make it suitable for the errands it was designed for. For chopping and log carving there are different size axes.
