The Linville Gorge is the roughest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River. Rough terrain, nearly no access, I'd hate to be in there fighting a fire.

Came home yesterday to see a Forest Service helicopter coming over the trees from behind my house at treetop level. I mean, he was right down on the trees. Less than 50 feet AGL. I saw some smoke when I came in, and then my brother told me that there was a woods fire about a 1/4 mile behind us and the chopper was making his runs right across us.
