That is true of Islamic law. Islam also has a series of blood sacrifices that are practiced to this day. The Judaic law tried to teach justification by adherence to the law. It was designed to show that no one could of themselves keep all the commandments all of the time. A series a sacrifices were built in to show that our violations of divine law must be paid for in strict measure: ie the shedding of innocent blood. That transgressions were not to be lightly dealt with but were of the most serious nature. Pretty sure thats just the Shiite that do that
