i'm leaning towards the 45/70. something for a beginner was just a hopeful bonus and not a requirement with this purchase.

i wasn't sure at first so called h&r last week and was told that the frame (SB2) that these calibers are built on can can be fitted with a .357 barrel. you send in the frame and they fit the barrels to your frame. it seems some people purchase barrels but they may or may not fit the frame properly. it's very likely i will get the .357 barrel but you know how things go sometimes.

Just get the 45-70 and tell the beginner to man up Whatever you hit will go down and not get back up. Not sure I've EVER had to track a deer I shot with a 45-70. I'd still suggest the Leverevolution rounds--especially given that I THINK the H&Rs have a decently long barrel.

Neat idea! I made a firepit this summer out of left over bricks from our patio remodel. We ended up with a giant pile of sand behind the patio, which I leveled out, dug into, and put in our firepit (I'll redo next spring/summer with some rock base under it first, I think). Made two benches out of leftover 2x6s I had in the garage and some cinder blocks. Had to buy some pavers to do the retaining wall, but the rest was just made with scrap materials. I'm also building a rock path leading off the property using flat rocks that I pull out of the creek every time I go hunting out back. I am all about home improvement on the cheap

Unfortunately, it looks like we need to replace all the plumbing in the house soon. Can't really do THAT on the cheap. Looking into PEX. If anyone has any experience good or bad, I'm all ears.

If you are doing a lot pex is the only way to go. It makes the job about 100% easier.

Don't know if I'd call that lucky or not.
