We have a flu medicine powder that comes in a small bag. It contains ibuprofein or paracetamol (depends on the make), vitamin c and flavours. You mix it with hot water and drink it. It makes you feel better. Perhaps you have this kind of medicine also?

There's a prescription drug called Tamiflu that's pretty good at knocking out the flu if you catch it quick enough.
