Can you head shot a squirrel at 25-30 yards?
My friends buckmark can and even though I don't like the feel of the buckmark
I would like to see that accuracy. I see holding a 9.5 in barrel revolver and moving through the woods and putting it into use as a difficult proposition.
I still want to be able to use a holster and I see 6.5 to 7.5 as my limit.

All IMHO

Mike, why the problem with a 9.5 inch revolver. Just get a diagonal chest rig for it. That way you could even scope it.

And we're not talking about a heavy S&W Model 29 here.

Well the 7.5 in ruger has a scope rail and rings included.
Imagine your bugging out. You have your primary long gun slung across your chest for easy access and your fighting pistol on a leg or hip holster. A chest rig or belt with mag pouches, knives and essentials. Then you have your BOB across your back with all the survival gear and ammo you can carry.
Every ounces you save in weight will give you more speed and endurance.
Plus more weight for essential items.
So the question is for my 22lr weapon. What is best?
The 10-22 TD will be more accurate and better mag capacity.
But it takes up lots of room and there isn't an easy way to keep it handy to bag game along your route.
So I look at pistols and revolvers
To short a barrel effects ballistics and accuracy
To long means how do you store it and wear it?
Put a scope on it and it becomes harder to carry and heavier.

Sounds like you need a Buckmark. I had one and loved it, but now my friend has it. You already said you don't like the way it feels, but accuracy over comfort sounds like a good compromise to me.

Yeah. My buddy can't find working mags for his. He has the two factory and that's it. No other factory or aftermarket ones work for some reason. Makes me wonder.

But I guess you can nit pick all day you just have to pick what makes you happy.

I may get one and never have a problem.

I've got a few months to shop before I turn 21 so I can take my time and look and hold them to see what I want

The mag issue sounds strange. I've used several factory mags and never had a single problem.

I didn't realize the 22 was part of your BOB gear. Oh and wouldn't your PRIMARY weapon already be in your hands?

Yeah if you are planing to use it as a hunting weapon the walther is not the way to go. Does it have to be a repeater if not I would take a look at something like the TC contender all the calibers you could want and plenty accurate.

Well the primary will be in my hands or slung across my chest. Being able to quickly access my 22lr weapon is something I want so you can forage as you travel.
I plan on having a center fire rifle for primary and my g22 for secondary.
So for low noise signature and game harvesting a 22 lot is a must IMHO

I prefer a repeater for the multi shoot capability but I will look into the TC
