Look into the MkIII Hunter model. Still able to scope it, but it reloads quickly and mags are plentiful. I have a MkII and love it. I can hit a squirrel in the head at 25 yards pretty easily with it, and it's a much better shot than I am.

If I could figure out how to thread an LCR in 22lr, I'd have one.

Interested in which path you decide on, and why.

I have an older version of the same Ruger .22 revolver. The pros are that it is easy to teach someone how to use. It was a gift from my grandfather.

If I was purchasing new today, I would get a Mark III type Ruger in stainless. You do have mags to deal with, but they are accurate little beasts.

S&W41 in an auto is hard to beat. As are any of the K22s and even the newer k frame .22s they make. I have a Colt Officers Model Match that is as accurte as a rifle (I can bounce empty .22 boxes around all day long one handed at 25yds with it) and built like a tank. Both my 41 and Colt are older than me.... wink

I have a pre-lock S&W Model 17 with a 6" brl. It is double/single action, great sights, fast, fits the hands, carry is easy in cross draw holster, and accurate. I have shot everything from CB caps, .22 Colobi, .22 short, .22 long, and .22 lr through it. Give the older Smiths a look.

I shoot a Model 617 sometimes, it's a great gun and very accurate. The Model 41 is awesome too, but at the prices they bring I'll take the Ruger MkII Slabside that I have now.
