Stripping the 411 is turning out to be a bigger chore than I had anticipated. I have most if the coating off but there are a few stubborn areas. I just slathered on a bit more stripper. I will let it sit for a couple hours then clean the rest off.

Using a nylon brush (or old toothbrush) does wonders to help those stubborn spots…also along the handle interface. Use gloves, get close and dirty with it…slather it good and use the brush to work it.

I never left the stripper on for hours…only like 20 minutes. I guess it depends on the type of stripper being used. I like fast strippers…I have no patience. I want to see what's underneath all that stuff sooner rather than later

I read that it only takes 20 minutes or so but I either got the wrong stuff or it is taking longer because I am doing it in the garage, which was in the 20'sgarage last night. I will be home in an hour, and I will finish it up.

Definitely works better in warmer weather. I've used a heat gun and blow dryer to warm the blade up a little

Here is the knife after my crappy strip job. Heading out to get some high grip sandpaper to try and polish it up a bit before starting the patina.

I like it the way it is! I am not a fan of high polished satin blades, I like the used look.

Final results after cleaning it a bit more and forcing a patina. I don't think it turned out to bad.
