Re: What have you BOUGHT lately? SkunkHunter 05/07/26 05:02 AM
We’ve got samples from like 4 of the bigger or better known companies, but I’m just hesitant to drop 4-5 hundred bucks on one brand then have Patty not like it. Me, I’m a garbage gut. Her, she is VERY particular about food.

On a totally different note, we’ve had the appraisers out for our Vehicle, and today, roof damage. We should be in pretty good shape (fingers crossed) except for the deductibles. Oh and our water heater. Gonna have to replace it probably within a month at the most.

Which of those “kits”, survival 3000 year shelf life foods are better in Your opinion. I’ve be3n reading a lot of good about 4Patriots, but still on the fence over the “bigger” companies.

So true. We shouldn’t force ourselves OR our beliefs on anyone else. Talking Is OK, FORCING is not.

Re: The Daily Growl & Bark SkunkHunter 05/05/26 04:41 PM
With all the joking around we do Patty and I have been truly blessed. We have been able to do things we thought we would never do.

Been to the Smoky Mountains 4 times, twice for a week and twice for 2 weeks. Able to afford two vehicles (yeah, one is 15 years old but only has 120K on the clock).

A house that was paid for 12 years ago, and only one vehicle payment (less than 300 a month). So we are doing better than some folks and worse than others. I reckon we’re just average Rednecks. wink

When I joined the Air Force 52 years ago I had no plans beyond the next 4 years.

We’re no “Saint” by any means, but we TRY to live a Christian life and I FULLY believe our lives are the way they are because of that.

In the beginning (started going to church the first Sunday Of 2001). We started giving what WE felt we could afford. Then after a couple three years we decided to start tithing. It was rough at first. But after a while we realized we were able to do things we couldn’t do before. And no our income didn’t go up anywhere enough to justify our ability to do “stuff”. It was as if money would just miraculously be there when logically it shouldn’t be. GOD HAS been very good to us, and everything we have is due to TRYING to live the life in a way that he wants us to. Can we ever live a perfect life, no, but as long as we truly try, and truly ask for forgiveness and help we can be pleasing and our lives will be better for it. Patty and I are perfect examples of that concept.

Sorry for the sermon, but it just came to my mind and I wrote it down. If these words help someone, it has all been worth it.

Folks may laugh, scoff, make fun, but Patty and I KNOW it has made a very beneficial difference in our lives.

Haha, yeah. But NOW we gotta call the home insurance folks. Last week a roofing company was “canvassing” the area giving free roof inspections. They went up, took pics and and said yup we got damage and they would be glad to fix it (I’m sure they would). Anyway it didn’t look to bad to Patty and I. But we had our preacher (he used to be a roofer) look at it and said yup we needed to get it fixed. It wasn’t super bad but he guaranteed that within a year, two at most we’d have a leaking food. So guess who I gotta call tomorrow.

Man I sure am glad gold, platinum, and diamonds 🤣😉 are all increasing in price. We might be able to afford another deductible that way.

Sheesh, car, hot water heater and now a roof all in one month. Sure am glad I got two working kidneys and a spleen. grin

Well the appraiser finished with our car. $2692 and some change allocated to fix it. We gotta pay 500, so I guess we did good.

Evening Yard!

I had to log in again as well.

Finally, a decent weekend weatherwise. I was able to get a few projects done that the weather has been keeping me from. I have a few more to go as long as it stays warm and dry.

Patty saw the Dr today. Listened to her Lungs, heart and looked in her ears and throat. Then he took a look at her hand and said it looks like author has arrived. Gave us the name of an OTC cream that he said worked pretty good.
That is all. grin
