Re: What have you BOUGHT lately? SkunkHunter 09/02/26 03:00 AM
I have been contemplating a “Walter Mitty” Ruger 10/22 build for some time. I “Wanted” a Ruger 10/22 SBR Takedown and was thinking about putting a ported 12 inch integrally suppressed barrel on it. (The same barrel concept as the MP5SD). Then I thought I’m WAY too old to be playing Walter Mitty.

So today I hitched up my big boy pants and got a good (I feel) deal AND a suppressor to boot.

I got Ruger’s 10/22 carbon fiber (model number 30214) AND a SilencerCo Sparrow 22lr suppressor for $775.00. Now all I gotta do is find the right scope for her (she’s wearing a Vortex Venom RDS at the moment.

I’ve been looking at scopes for the last couple hours and THINK I have settled on the Athlon Neos 4-12x40mm BDC 22 Rimfire (or the 3-9). It’s got great reviews and Grok says it even beats out the Vortex scope it is comparable to. Plus here a while back DT said he was thinking about getting one. High praise if you ask me.

So I MIGHT here pretty quick be getting the 3-9 or the 4-12. Probably 3-9 as it will be no more than a 100 yard gun for me at the extreme limit.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

P.S. I had originally passed on the rifle as I was gonna work on a trade. Patty put the nix on that so we went back to the gun store. THEN she said “I know you’ll want a suppressor” so you might as well stop by the NFA dealer as well. Well lo and behold, they had them on sale! I LOVE SAVING MONEY. grin

Oh Christmas came early this year. wink

It's not supposed to be over 84 during the next 2 weeks Most days not even hitting 80. It's nice. I mowed at 1pm until 230pm and it was comfortable.

I need to head up to the high country on my ATV soon.

Looks like I will be watering the plants shortly. The heat is really tough on them as well as me, but we will survive. smile

Same for me ! This entire week is supposed to be 100 degrees or more ; the only things I want to do outside are pick vegetables and water the plants.

Morning Yard!

I'm hoping the blazing hot days of summer have past here. It's been mid to high 70's for the past few days and maybe low 80's today. But ti was a nice 44 degrees when I got up this morning. I prefer this kind of weather.

Time to start some brush trimming and mowing.

I got my new headlights installed. I'm am absolutely impressed with them. I am not too happy with how hard they are to adjust, and I have a little tweaking to do to get them where I want them. But they are absolutely incredible on high beam and Very impressive on low. They have crisp defined edges and are well designed. They shouldn't blind oncoming traffic, on low beam.

I wasn't worried about how they looked, yet they are an improvement over stock.

I'm going to have to do an extended test drive at night to make sure there aren't any bugs in the system. (Computor controlled cars can finicky)

Even after having a severe stoke in 2012 he continued doing voice work from a wheel chair.

First Shelley Fabres, then Dolly Parton, and now Tim Curry ; the entertainment world really lost three greats. frown

OH NO! H also played in the movie Clue and several others. But yeah, probably his most memorable role was as the Doctor. A part he played quite well.

The lenses on mine are fine. I replaced the housings a few years ago They were 13 years old or more. The reflectors are considered the worst ever made. I agree with that assessment. What i'm buying should be as good or better than stock LED lights on new trucks. I don't plan on selling my truck anytime in the next few years.

I do plan on ceramic coating the lenses on the new ones so they have the best chance of lasting a long time.

Surprisingly the actual lens are not really that bad. The tree has spared them the strong UV for the most part.

I hear ya MB. Tithe lights on our 2010 Escape are awful compared to those on our ‘23 Ford Edge. I’m thinking about going led on it.

I found some aftermarket headlights for my truck onsale. I picked up some Morimoto LED headlights for my trusty Dodge 3/4 ton. The stock lights probably have the worst reflectors ever made. It will be nice to be able see at night again. And they are actually street legal.
