Thanks for the pic, and the new technique. I have more fatwood than I can ever use, but I still find myself reluctant to burn it for some reason. I guess I treat it as some kind of sacred idol because its so perfect for fire starting.

And i know what you mean about cougar tracks. I was recently on a late evening walk at the snowy woods near my house. A walked to a nice viewpoint about 20 minutes from the house, and as I retraced my steps I noticed a fresh set of cougar tracks that hadn't been there on the outbound trip. I had just finished reading Tom Brown's Wilderness Survival Field Guide (which I highly recommend), so my first reaction was to geek out over the tracks. About 30 seconds later my common sense kicked in and I trotted back to the house. Needless to say, I was glad to gave brought my high-powered flashlight and DMDC with me
