i am not a star trek fan but hell, i might go see it if its that good.
There are some very "Star Treky" things in it, but it is the least "nerdy" of any Star Trek film and I'd say it's more bad-a$$ action film than sci-fi flick.
They also wrote the story so you don't have to know anything about Star Trek to understand and be interested.
However, fans will catch little gems just for them as well!
