Thanks my friends
I don't regret the day I brought him home.
My only regret for today is that I couldn't be with him at the end.
I do not regret our decision to save him from pain.

My wife and oldest daughter were with him.
They are devastated.
When my daughter's boyfriend carried him out the door, Sarge struggled, when Brandon put him down, he walked to the car (last 2 days he couldn't stand).
They lifted him into the car (he loved car rides) and the sun was shining through the window.
They petted him up and fed him his special treats as they drove to the vet.
After they lifted him out of the car he walked into the office, sniffed around and followed my wife to the back room and laid on the mat.
He barely made the walk of 25 maybe 30 feet but he did it.
It broke their hearts because, he could walk.
Our vet came in and told them Sarge had nothing left and it was the right decision.

Our dogs are part of our family, I don't think we will get another until after bear passes.
She is too frail to stand the rigors that a young dog would bring to the house.
I have been fortunate in having such a loyal friend and family protector.
He will be missed

Thank you all again for your kind words

Here is to old dogs and children
