So i have been using my 1111 chopping lots and lots of wood the last 3 days. The only thing that im not sure of yet is the handle. It seems like a good size for the 911 but maybe a little to small for the 1111. Also sometimes the handle feels tacky and the next minute slippery. Also the handle is slippery when wet, on the website it says secure grip when wet. Not true. Did anyone else experience this?

I think it's about time we had a big chopper with a Deregulator handle.

I've never had res-c feel slick, wet or dry. Is it possible you had something on your hands, like oil? I'm not sure what to make of it.

Mmmmm.....could be..i did some more chopping and it felt good. My Fehrman and all my g-10 handles felt even more slick. I think its in my head. Analize to much....:)
Anyway, i got the edge down to 17dps with a micro bevel of 25dps. Very very sharp. The knife even after three days still shaving and from what i can see under magnification no edge damage. I smacked this knife like i was trying to kill it. Outperforming my 475$ Fehrman.

Dan's knives may not be as pretty as some others, but they sure do perform.

I remember a post where Jerry said they did lots of in house testing on 3v and that sr101 still beat 3v in lateral strength, impact toughness etc. I wasn't sure about this until now. Skunkhunter....i will have to disagree with you. I think scrapyard knives has a certain hard use look to them which in fact is very attractive smile

I agree with the "Hard use look". I was talking about they don't have shiny blades, ivory handles....etc. I personally, don't have a place for the Fru Fru knives. I may not use all my knives, but they have to be using type knives. Nothing wrong with the art type knives, just I don't care for them. I have ONE folder and am afraid to use it cause it's so pretty.

Would love to try the 1111 but can't get over the Dogfather. Maybe some day I'll find a dirt cheap user. grin

Dan's blades do the job and then some. Never felt like Res-C was slick, and mine have seen a lot of grease, water and blood (until I lost my War Dog today mad ). I've always loved the heft of micarta and G10, but most of my Bussekin end up being Res-C...

As much as I like the micarta and G-10 handles on my Bussekin, I really appreciate the grippiness and light weight of the Res-C. wink

Yes.... compairing handles now i can see what comfort means. The last few days i have been using my 1111 without focusing on handle discomfort. But what really gets my attention is the edge stability, retention and easy sharpening.

To me the one weakness in yard knives is their handles
I have four different styles of handles on my yard knives and with the exception of the regulator they all seem slightly small
I have used my Yardkeeper on an elk and a moose and I didn't find the handle getting slick in either case
