Ok. I just ordered a LVOA lower from war sport and I'm trying to decide what upper to use. I was tempted to put a rifle upper together or build on the RECCE rifle concept.

I have wanted a night force for a while now but the price has kept me away so far.

When you get the lower in have your ffl register it as a pistol so you can use it as a pistol and a rifle.

I AM NOT A LAWYER, so don't take this as legal advice, and do your own research:

The way I understand Federal law, all stripped virgin lowers have to be transferred as other/receiver and from there you can build it into a pistol or a rifle as you wish. If your FFL transfer a stripped virgin lower as anything else, they're doing it wrong. Get a copy of the 4473 for your records.

If the receiver has even once been built into a gun (barrel and maybe stock attached), it remains what you made it into and must after that be transferred as such.

A pistol can supposedly always be made into a rifle, but a rifle has to stay a rifle. Be careful, it's very easy to accidentally be in possession of an illegal short barrel rifle, even if you simply own parts that can only be configured as an SBR. Like owning a pistol and a buffer tube with a collapsible stock in a box in your garage, but no long gun upper.

Between Federal law, ATF regulations, and local laws, there's a lot of grey area to building an AR pistol, so make sure you really do your homework first.

All that said, they're a ton of fun laugh

According to the Feds, a new, stripped lower can be built as a pistol, converted to a rifle and back to a pistol. It can be changed to either at any time. A new, stripped lower, when built as a rifle must remain a rifle and cannot be built into a pistol at any time in the future.

"...shall not be infringed.”

in·fringe verb \in-ˈfrinj\ : to do something that does not obey or follow (a rule, law, etc.) ( chiefly US )

: to wrongly limit or restrict (something, such as another person's rights)

Maybe the Feds don't know the definition?

Haha yeah.
So for a low profile gas block what's best. pinned, clamp on, set screw with demples ,set screw no demples?

Gun show is this weekend... I guess I'll go walk around with my M1A and/or SLR107. I would love for these two to pay for it but I guess if i was to wind up with anything over $2K I can probably go ahead and get a SCAR17.

I know a SCAR is overkill but dagnabit!!!

Question for you, have you seen a CZ 97 B/BD yet and hefted it? If so, what did you think about the size?

Nope... Haven't actually held one or seen one other than online. I'm expecting it to be a smaller than my FNP45 but a bit heavier. I wish we had a place locally but we don't see much CZ stuff down here.

From what I've read, if you're concerned with size then get the aluminum grips as they are slimmer.
