JJ has or had one. Not sure what he though of it. I just can't get behind keltek because of there limited product there for not enough T&E and field input into a design. Why not build a AR .308?

Last I remember JJ said he liked his RFB. That's one reason it stays in the my mind.

I just don't like the AR rifles that much. I would snag a SIG716 just to see if I like it but I didn't like the weight on it. A FAL is tempting but I think I'll pass. So far the only two rifles I know I would buy today is a SCAR17 and a 24" barrel RFB. I still haven't listed the 107 because I don't like selling firearms online and I'm lazi...

And a bit front heavy at that. While it's manageable I wouldn't want to scope one and lug it around for a while.

I looked at a bunch of AR10 rifles online today. Nothing stood out. I also looked into the RFB some more and I don't think I will go that route.

I contacted a guy about his SCAR and hopefully we can work something out but he didn't jump on my offer so we will see.

I love the power of the .308 but I haven't seen a semi auto one that says hey I'm the one pick me. The whole FAL would be great if there was some kinda of consistency. By this I mean all the nice ones aren't made any more so you pay lots of Money for one of those or you buy a parts kit rifle or a less than perfect new manufacture model.

The AR and scar are my two fav

The M1A if made like the original ones would be great but none of the new ones seem to have that quality and reliability.

This may be a bit off topic but I'm hoping for some good info from you dogs.

Earmuffs. I've always used non-powered muffs along with foam inserts for range shooting. Great for hearing protection but I'm at a huge disadvantage when someone tries to talk. So I've been doing some research into the electronic ear muff market.

Wow, there’s a lot of companies that want me to buy their products. The weak point of all of these muffs seems to be that you have to suffer db protection loss if you want to use electronic ear muffs with a rifle.

For instance a set of Howard Leight Impact Sport (22db noise reduction rating) for $48 vs Howard Leight Impact Pro (30bd NRR) for $68. It would seem a no-brainer to spend the extra $$$ to get the extra protection, but a major complaint is that the Impact Pro's are larger and interfere with a cheek weld associated with rifle shooting.

I would like to spend less than $300 for a quality set of electronic muffs, but they would have to be high on the quality chart for that kind of money.

I've got the Howard Light impact sport. I'm very happy with them for pistol and rifle shooting.

Lazi,

You said weight was your chief complaint regarding .308 ARs... DPMS may have solved your problem.

Mastiff,

I have purchased two sets of Howard Leights, the second ONLY because my dog chewed the first set up... I agree with GD completely.

I've shot them with everything I own, including one very noisy M14, the sound attenuation has always been below my pain level for impulse sound. With that said, I am certain I have a degree of hearing loss due to my time in the Army. Blackhawk helicopters aren't nearly as quiet as hollywood portrays them to be... you could always plug up though.

The audio enhancement is worth every cent alone. I was shooting in the woods a few years back, doing QR drills with my SLR-106F, and during a lull in the shooting, I heard crackling and crunching in the underbrush behind me. It sounded like it was right on top of me! I whirled around to see what had made the sound, and as it turns out, there were two younger bucks walking through the treeline... 250 meters away. grin
