I'm looking at the Ghost Evo Elite connector and spring kit. It requires a little bit of filing, but if you screw it up Ghost will send you another one for free. I don't know why I haven't bought one yet. Maybe I'll go do that now.

Oh.....get a tungsten guide rod.

Yes, the safety selector detent pin and spring are held in place by the pg. Just be careful it doesn't go flying when you remove it.

Check. Thanks Adam. It's a Blackhawk Sporster AR15 ergonomic grip. Not bad for $5.00 at Wally World. Yeah it was on clearance, but Hey.

I am getting ready to start CCW. My first carry gun (I think) will be my beloved Sig P225. Man I really like that thing.

Next up will be a Glock 17 I got off the widow of a cop I used to work with when I was working on weekends at my hometown department. He bought it new I think he said WAY back in the 80's.

So, I should get a different G17 spring and guide rod?

Mine is SN# KR510 US. SO does the line below mean that mine was made in 1989 and is a Generation 2?

KR**** G-17 2 12/1/1989

I went to some glock forum and searched for serial numbers and when they were made and the above post is the line that corresponded, well sort of, with mine.

All the factory Glock parts function just fine and are totally reliable. The tungsten guide rod assembly is WAY heavier than the factory polymer one, which allows quicker follow up shots. Tungsten should be more resilient than polymer, but I'm not sure if that is even an issue.

There are several drop in trigger connectors for glocks. Most of them just change the feel of the trigger. Lone Wolf is a popular brand. If you decide to change any of the springs DO NOT get a firing pin spring lighter than 6 pounds unless you want to run the risk of light primer strikes.

So, for my G21 I will get the Ghost Evo Elite (which requires minor filing), a 4 pound trigger spring, and a 6 pound firing pin spring.

I'm not sure, Randy. I know there's something about the pins in the frame that make it easy to differentiate a Gen 1 from a Gen 2. One has 2 pins and the other has 3.

I will probably just leave mine stock. So the plastic guide rod and flat spring should be OK I am gathering. I have a Haarts recoil reduction rod in my Sig 225 and it does make a difference. So SHOULD I get the tungsten rod? Oh and what pound spring should I get to go with it, if I do change it?

I really don't care that much what generation it is, just curious as to when it was made. It has of course NOT been shot that much. He carried a revolver most of his years prior to getting the glock.

He only had one spare mag for it and I have only shot 2 mag loads through it myself.

I think I'm way wrong. Gen 2's have checkering on the front strap and the Gen 1's don't.
