ALMOST pulled the trigger on a 10.5" 300 BLK pistol upper for about 250 shipped. figured I'd better have a pistol lower on hand first though, lest the gov accuse me of intent to build an unregistered SBR. Dang it was a good deal though!

I need about 2-3k to get all my uppers and lowers in a row. Anyone wanna contribute to the "DTDBGB Campaign," or the "DogTired Dream Black Guns Bonanza Campaign?"

Something says my wife won't appreciate my spending all that on more "toys."

For uppers, I "need" an 18" stainless 1:8 wylde, a 16" 300BLK, a 6.8 SPC, a 16" stainless 1:9 wylde, and a 10.5" 300 BLK. Then I need a pistol lower and a Sig arm brace.

I suppose I'll also "need" nickel boron BCGs for everything....

Of course, then I'll ALSO "need" optics for everything...

The 458 SOCOM can wait a year grin

I'd like to get all this stuff before the next "incident" sends prices through the roof again. We're looking at dang good prices on all this stuff right now.

Not much out here that "needs" the .375, Asiatic Buffalo, Bantang and Scrub Bulls are about it. I have hunted buff with my .300Win but it was not the most comfortable feeling doing so. The .375 is also a great Sambar rifle but the .300 works well too. There is something truly SPECTACULAR about busting hogs with the .375 !!!!!!!! That said earlier in the year I was hunting bunnies with it as well (I work on the theory if I am confident snap shooting rabbits as I was through the bush I should be able to hit a Cape Buffalo OK).

DT if you have an unbuilt lower just put a pistol buffer and you are GTG. It doesn't have to be marked as a pistol. You just can't have a stock on it or should it have ever had a stock on it.

Seems like AR pistols are a massive gray area... So you can convert a rifle lower to a pistol legal configuration? Or pistol to legal rifle? They don't start life as just one and stay just one? And really who checks every serial number in your safe to keep folks legit? Can you own a pistol upper before you own a pistol lower?
What separates a SBR upper from a pistol upper?

There really is not a gray area. ATF has put out several documents concerning AR lowers. When I checked last year, the following was legal to do. I don't know if anything has changed since then. Check their website to be sure.

If you start with a lower that has never been made into a firearm, you can make it into either a rifle or a pistol. If you make a rifle, it has to stay a rifle. You cannot convert it into a pistol in the future. If you first make it into a pistol, you can convert it back and forth to a rifle and back into a pistol as many times as you want. According to the ATF, the lower does not have to be marked "pistol" in order to be in the pistol mode. State laws may add some other regulations. Such as, California has many regulations about AR rifles that are not Federal regulations.

I found that it is against federal law to have a pistol upper in your possession unless you also have a pistol lower. If you do not own any stocked lowers or AR rifles, then you can possess just the pistol upper. Having a pistol upper and lowers with stocks on them means you are in possession of an SBR. SBR stands for short barreled rifle. You are in violation of federal law if you possess a SBR without a tax stamp.
There is no difference between a SBR upper and a pistol upper. If the barrel length is under 16", then the upper is either a SBR or pistol upper. If it is on a lower that has a stock, then you have a SBR. If it on a lower that has the pistol buffer tube, then you have a pistol. You can have a pistol upper and stocked lowers in your possession as long as you have a lower with a pistol buffer tube also.
