I want a 308 AR. One day I will have to start a build on one. I am having to contain myself on upgrades and new gun projects. They have some great sales going on and there is plenty of stuff I want.
I just need to pick a project to upgrade and finish it.
I'm fairly torn if I want to upgrade some stuff on an AR pistol or change out an upper and a go to a Free float handguard on an old H-Bar that is freakishly accurate but has the old A2 STYLE UPPER.

You know the upper swap will be the more instantly gratifying of the two projects.

LOL,
Also the more expensive. I can get a BCM demo upper for 74 bucks right now. That just leaves a handguard rail and a gas block.
The handguard is going to be the expensive part.
Then glass, a rail mounted bi-pod and eventually a new trigger....and something else.

It's an addiction. That's the one good things about an AR. Once you have the lowers built you can do a whole lot of stuff with them.
I am getting to that point in life where I have some good quality gear and now I am outfitting/tailoring them for what I want.
Not a whole lot of off the rack stuff except for work stuff.
I would imagine the next evolution will be changing out sights to help with aging eyes. But that's still many years out.
I think I may go for the flattop upper. That's always good medicine for prairie dogs.

I always go flat top I have never been a fan of the A1/2 uppers, way to many options with a flat top to go with a carry handle only upper. I got my shotgun all done last night haven't shot it yet but with dry fire drills I am loving this set up.

I will be getting a light for it as this will be my main home defense/room clearing weapon.

I never understood why the Marine Corps issued rifles with carry handles since we weren't allowed to use them.

Using the carry handle was grounds for an immediate posterior chewing. It's almost as bad as having your hands in your pockets.

Back when I bought that particular rifle the flatops were rare air around here.
I had never even held a flatop receiver until after I got out of the Army.
Now that's the only way to go.
I never got the whole carry handle thing either. Using it was the equivalent of spitting on baby Jesus.
