If thats what she is comfortable with then more power to her, at least she is willing to carry.

My mom was the same way till we started practiced defensive shooting. She saw the manual safety as a liability right away. She EDCs a xds9

To be clear. My wife is prior service. She was security forces. She is trained to release the safety as she draws. The safety issue is a non-issue except that she feels better about carrying it around or boys. It is what she likes and her draw to engagement is faster than most.

Plus, I really like that Sig.

Well that's awesome! I'm sure she will be able to make a well informed decision on a carry gun with your help!

Well, she said she wishes they made a purse size 1911. The Sig is basically that. Has all the same mechanics for the most part.

As for picking it out ... It's her Christmas present. It'll be a surprise.

True. If she likes a 1911 style pistol then that's a good possibility.

There are some nice compact 1911s but good quality ones are pricy!

First off, let me start by saying "It's a SiG" laugh with that out of the way wink If you like it, that's bonus points, since you'll want to shoot it to. I have an NCO who EDCs a P238, they're ITTY BITTY in the hand, as you well know. He loves his. It's not my personal experience, but I'd trust SSG Spruce's opinion, he's definitely a gun guy.

I thought about a small 1911 for a second, but my Glock 21 is too recoily for her 95lb frame. That is why I'm getting the 9mm.
