Initial impressions are that's it's pretty nice. Short (longest it can get is 31.5 inches with three spacers, shortest just over 29.5) with NO spacers. Light weight, nice balance. Comes apart by just drifting out one "Pin" and sliding the upper and lower apart. I actually wish the sights were mounted a little higher. I am gonna have to do some adjusting to my "Normal" cheek weld and figure out how come the front sight looks "Bent" when I am sighting through the peep rear. It's NOT bent, just the way my glasses/eye is perceiving it.

It's got about 95 safeties on it so it shouldn't go off unless you pull the trigger. Chrome lined barrel 16.6 inches long. Weight 5.75 pounds UNLOADED.

It is COMPLETELY ambidextrous. You can make it eject to the right or left. Move the charging handle to the left or right along with the magazine release and I THINK it said you can change the safety to work backwards to us Righties as well.

So far I think that I am gonna like it (I BETTER) but as they say, the "Proof is in the pudding". We'll see once I actually am able to get out and shoot for a bit.

Hope it meets your expectations, Randy. I'm glad you're liking it so far.

The company I work for gave us all Yeti Roadie coolers for reaching a safety milestone. They look big from the outside, but, due to the tons of insulation, it ends up being a heavy, 20 quart lunch kit on the inside. I appreciate the gift, but I already have several coolers that are good enough and I don't need to keep my lunch cold for a week.

I took it to Bass Pro Shops and exchanged it for a $270 ($239.99 plus tax) store credit (gift card). I was hoping to find a Ruger 10/22 with a 20" barrel and no barrel band, but all of theirs had barrel bands. Hopefully I can go there one day and find the one I want.

$270.00 FOR A COOLER! OUCH! Well I guess for some folks.

Yeah I hemmed and hawed around thinking about this and that and came to the following conclusions.

1. I have a for all practical purposes a still new Colt AR15 that has had less than 200 rounds through it.

2. I have a 308 hunting rifle for longer distance if needed (Remington 600 Mohawk). Yes I know it's a hunting rifle but it's a tack driver.

3. I have assorted shotguns, including two "Tactical" Weatherby TRS shotguns. Yes they are only 20ga but at the distances I will be dealing with a 20 will work as well as a 12, same as for the 308.

4. I have several pistols and revolvers for constant "On body carry".

5. This Beretta (CX4 Storm) will I feel fulfill the "close encounters of the bad kind" quite nicely and do it, if needed all the way out to 100 yards. But mostly it will allow for a good, hi-cap "House" gun that can be used pretty much for any distance on our block.

My choices may not be what the "Mainstream" Gun Guru's suggest, but I feel for us they are more than adequate for the way we will use them in our AOR. Feel free to comment/critique.

As I said, this is just for us and quite probably would be different for others.

I'm with you Randy. I'd buy one of those in .45 acp right now if there was a high capacity magazine option. 8 rounds just won't do.

I think I saw a 10 round mag from Beretta, but still 10 rounds isn't really hi cap.

I'm sure some folks would have said Well OK, but you SHOULD have gone with 40 cal at least. Yeah it probably would have been better, but I can get 20 round mags for this one for $37.00 or less PLUS the ammo is cheaper to boot! That means I can buy more of it.

I have already made One discovery. I think I messed up on buying a couple stock spacers. When I shouldered it and got a sight picture the front sight appeared to me to lean to one side. It doesn't though. Come to find out I was to far back for the peep sight and when I got closer to the rear peep it straightened right up and actually got sharper for me.

I found a small company that makes a kit that increases the mag capacity to either 15 or 16 rounds. You can purchase a complete magazine from them for $180. Yikes! And the mag looks like it is about 18 inches long. I'll pass.

I'd like to put a Mech Tech conversion on a double stack 1911 frame. I think I'd prefer the 1911 frame over the glock frame on a carbine for the better trigger and manual safety. Unfortunately I can't find any frames. Best I can find is a complete Rock Island pistol for less than $500.

Enjoy your lunch.
