I'm really new to making jewelry (only about a year) and I'd love to hear some of the things you might have done to increase your skills. I would love some tips from fellow Yard Dogs. Here is my latest. It's a gift to my 8 year old niece. She loves hearts, her favorite flowers are dogwoods, and pearl is her birthstone.

Thanks, Ray! I'm slowly getting better at silver soldering. I tend to overheat the metal and have to reroll my silver into sheets and start from scratch again. This is a pendant I made my wife for her 40th birthday. She loves red wine, so I made the center stone out of glass from her favorite wine brand, pulverized raw rubies, and copper. The pendant is multilayered silver sheets that I brought to different critical temperature to create an autumn tree limb effect. Overall it's a bit crude, but I'm showing small improvement.

Dogfish, you might call it crude, I call it beautiful! How are you with Owls? Patty has a thing for Owls.

As a guy with little to no artistic ability, I'm always amazed at how people can make their visions a reality.

Wow.

Thanks, guys :-)
I'll try my hand at an owl pendant. It will be fun! Give a week or so.
