2500 at least for the sar-48, I'll wait for the dpms g2s to come back around. 1200 dollars is a lot of 308 ammo

The only "real" Inch Pattern rifle I've seen for sale here went for $6000. Cast receiver (Type 3) FN made rifles start at around $3500. The forged "G" FN rifles are pushing $5-6500.

IMBEL imports are "functional", and around $2000.

If I could buy a 50.00 or 50.61 FN for $3000 I'd buy one of each.

I'd love to also have a real INCH rifle for $3000.

I actually think the Falklands era Brit kit and rifle are about as sexy as battle rattle and rifles can be.

Yes the Poyer/Onyx rifles do draw a premium in the US, even with the safety sear deleted. The Century LEO L1A1s are a bit grey for most as well.

Both my L1A1s (a standard and an F1) wore British/Kiwi plastics and had the pins added to enable the BHO to function on an empty magazine. Mine also had Hythe rear sight (but not front sights as they were just too boxey for my liking) !! A few good smacks with a hammer and punch worked wonders for upper/lower play and giving the rear sight a squeeze in the vice helped the bit of wobble on the rear sight. Watching so modified L1A1s shooting at the AASAM (Australian Army Skill At Arms Meeting) against all manner of international teams always reminded my what a capable rifle it was

Many Years ago I had an L1A1 and I only fired a couple mags through it. Sadly I let it go some years back.

The L1A1 with a few tweeks is probably the best evolution of the FAL design IMHO.

I was loading a bit over the last week, it seems my old scales (compared to the new ones) were out .2-.4gns. I had to pull some of the pressure test loads I did up as a couple of cases that belonged to a friend (of many years ago) had got in my stash and they would not even get close to chambering in my rifle after only a neck size. I had checked each and every one of the 100 cases I had set aside, trimmed, polished and neck sized, through the chamber but didn't apply the same diligence to the 20 or so I had for pressure checking etc.

Loaded up several round from 3grns below max weight (70gns) to 1gn over max and launched them off Saturday afternoon. I am pretty sure I can still go up to around 3gns over max but I am going to start work at 1gn over (74gns). I have loaded up a small batch now for accuracy testing, I just need a morning at the range to do so.

..... for years my jacket of choice was a Royal Marine Arctic Smock, wore that all around the world. I replaced it with an original SAS smock (I do prefer the cut of the hood on this over the RM version) and an Australian made/SF issue smock in Multicam. The later gets most use now, though if I am feeling nostalgic the DPM one gets out and about.

The Poyer I saw a few years ago was a rifle of beauty. I just cannot justify the price.

I gave my DPM Pattern 94 Smock to my uncle recently (for helping me move). I gave him some other items too (notably a gun safe). The only thing I miss is that smock.

The problem with Poyer rifles is that they are so "collectable" given the documented low number (158 I think it was) imported into the US. The Onyx rifles are in even less numbers but almost unknown so garner far less "value" !! The L1A1As that I saw here were better "finished" (aesthetically) than a standard L1A1.

I love smocks... I find them the most useful and comfortable field jackets around. I have "several" wink

I know that I am old and don't keep up with all the new fancy stuff, but I gather a "Smock" is just a light weight field jacket(that's what WE called them back in the dark ages).

Yes a light field jacket of sorts, nothing new or fancy about them though Old Timer wink wink they date (as issue items) to WWII being common among the British and German Airborne types. I think the Brits probably took the deign to their peak. They are still issue (here and the UK) now.

They really were not well known in the US till the 80s when "SOF Magazine" use to carry adverts for the British SAS versions and everyone who was "cool" got interested for a bit. I have an OD green Aussie Para Smock that dates to the 60s...it would still make a fine field jacket today.
