Anyone here messed with tritium sights on an AR or rifle? I'm thinking about getting a set for my .300blk upper

I work with a guy that killed a nice 10pt this past season with his Marlin 44Mag lever action. He said it stumbled about 4 feet and fell over dead. He texted pictures from the kill site.

That's the gun I used. Maybe he had magic bullets. I even saw the hole in the critter as it wheeled around and ran. Found it with its lumgs both shot through and either the heart was clipped or it took off the top.

I think it just didn't have much energy transfer for whatever weird reason. Winchester semi jackrted hunting rounds... Just left me leery of using it as my go to gun...

Might make a GREAT vehicle gun. 10 rounds of non-threatenin', non-tactical, non- "assault rifle" fun. Just o!d fashioned butt whuppin', layin' the smackdown on any gang that messes with a crippled old man, his younguns, and his purty lady! KABLAMMO!!!!

Get off my lawn you kids!!!!

As in front and rear? Or illuminated scope thingy?

Hey DT, could you load the 44Spl just a tad hot for the lever gun? I'm thinking you MIGHT be able to get an extra round or two in the tube that way instead of the 44mag.

Front and rear. Trying to keep it cheap and optics on a .300blk pistol seems like overkill

..... sometimes critters just throw you mate and refuse to die no matter how f'ed up they are. My Cape Buffalo ran a good 150yds and my PH was already berating me over projectiles (he like soft points, hates solids and I was using something between). When I got to the buff he was down for the count but I gave him another round to be sure. Once the cutting started he had to agree that the projectile had worked as well as any soft (tissue and organ damage) AND it had broadsided the buff. The heart was ripped. As he said, there was no logical reason that the animal was still on its feet as long as it was.

I like .44Mag as a play round, plenty of grunt for medium game and as you note, it is chambered in rifles that don't raise and eye. I had a Ruger .44 carbine (the 10/22 on steroids) that was, back in the day, when I could, my truck gun.

Depends on the use. Given you can use it effectively out to 200 yards, a scope might not be too much wink I had a Burris 2-7 on mine before selling it. A 4-20x50mm might have been overkill...maybe....

I love aimpoint. So it either an aimpoint with folding sights or Tritium irons.
The pro mount seems bulky for the size of the pistol.

And yes, sometimes deer are like zombies. I arrowed a deer perfect broadside heart lung shot. Watched it run 150 yards away, then run back 150 yards, and then keel over dead after running another 30--just ran outta steam and dropped dead. If it hadn't come back along the same trail, I might have lost it.
