We have been picking peppers and tomatoes like crazy! The General late-planted a couple of cucumbers so we will see how they do.

Morning Yard!

I'm waiting on the Roma tomatoes to ripen and try my hand at spaghetti sauce. I have a bunch on the vine

My green pepper plants have a bunch and my jalapeno plants had some many peppers it was dragging them over from the weight. I picked about a third yesterday.

The cucumbers are doing okay and winter squash is doing well but they don't produce much per plant. If I get 5 off the 2 plants I'll be doing good.

I have 1 grapefruit sized watermelon and a couple that just formed but I doubt the will ripen. I only have another 30 days left for the growing season. Maybe 45 if September stays warm.

I think I'll double the sized of the raised bed garden next year.

M/B, for raised beds we used some cattle "lick tubs" and some plastic barrels cut in half. I got them for free at the recycle location. smile

I use something similar. They are like a stock tank without a bottom. About 3 feet wide and 6 feet long. I use 20 gallon grow bags and plenty of 5 gallon buckets. They do surprisingly well and you can get several seasons out of the grow bags.

I'm going to try and get 3 more of the bottomless tanks in the spring. They make weeding and watering way easier.
