I beg to differ. Have you tried a 351 Cleveland with an FMX transmission? The 302 is great, but I'd take the Cleveland over the windsor any day of the week. Great car by the way.

I would prefer the 351 windsor over the Cleveland as it is a less efficient design
especially the heads but the real issue with the Cleveland is it is to rare and expensive. I like a standard tranny better than the auto even the FMX.
A Cleveland with FMX and a big enough cam and carb to feed those huge valves is a cool 70's musclecar mill but the thing that makes the windsors great is there availability and the way you can build them to suit anything.

You can take a roller cammed 5.0 out of a 86 to 95 stang and add some aftermarket aluminium heads and have a great and light sportscar motor or take a 351 windsor out of an old truck and add a edelbroc cam and intake and stick it in a musclecar
for a budget 300HP.

I also like the 460 ,it is another cheaper motor that responds really well to a budget build. I had an 86 F350 with a 460 that had an insane amount of tourque for a stock engine. With aluminium heads and intake you can take a lot of wieght off and build some incredible power.

Roo I love the Fox body 5.0's. I think they are one of the best handling V8 cars ever. The whole drivetrain is awesome. Rollercam 5.0, T5 or AOD and a 8.8 rear end is just incredible.
The 5.0 engine I have is out of the first fox stang the 82 Boss is back version.
It does not have the cool rollercam but does have the biggest cam in the FORD parts book at the time the 351 marine cam. It has ubercool aluminium finned valve covers and a high rise aluminuim 2barrel intake(the 83 got the 4 barrel and the 86 got fuel injection). I also have some 1970 high compression stud mounted heads socked away for it as well as a aftermarket coil and aircleaner etc.

A 4bbl holley should fit on there, nicely. my 85 had the uncommon fuel injected 5.0, and an auto trans.
I like the 5.0 a lot. Parts are common and cheap. easy to work on. very, very reliable. Mine had almost 220,000 miles on it when I got the new engine. nothing wrong with the old, but the new one was blueprinted, and free.
my brother had it built for his, then changed his mind. brand new custom engine for free? sign me up.
so many mods i forget them all. texas turbo ported intake, headers, 3.27 rear gears, rebuild and slicked up transmission, bigger fuel pump....and on and on.
It has been worked on by Dwight at Outrageous Mustangs, Ilya at Gerber Performance.
I had it repainted and the body all fixed up a few years back. it looks better than new. The guy who did my paint used a polymer like that used on my CZ-75. Very cool.
Inside, it is mostly stock except for a CD player and Flofit seats. they used flofit seats on the saleen 1985-1989.

How about some photos of your stang Roo?
This thread has convinced me to get moving on my car. I am going to take the engine in and have it bored out and start the rebuild.
I think I will do the bare minimum to get it running and then do the body and other appearance work bit by bit.

Soon. It has been thunderstorming every day for awhile now, and is forcasted to do so for the next week.
Today would have been a good day to take it out, but i was too busy laying on the couch, drinking iced tea, cleaning my .45's, cordwrapping knives in desert camo cord, and watching 'firefly'.
burn the ground and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me....

I went and swept out the garage and cleaned out some junk to get it ready for the
engine rebuild. That darn grinder sure makes one heck of a mess. I am going to be hiding in my airconditioned bedroom for most of the day as it will be another hot one. Very humid and around35 degrees C or close to 100 in american.
We had so much hot weather this month that I blew a lot of knife cash on the new LG airconditioner. I guess I will have to make my own knives for a while.

It is kind of disgusting here in NJ, as well. Spent toe day watching the rest of my 'firefly' series dvd's, then watched serenity.
Ate more pizza. Did I ever mention our pizza delivery girl is incredibly hot?
Was outdise with the dogs for maybe 15 minutes, started sweating just from watching them run around.
Ran inside and hid. if my A/C lasts the rest of this season, I will be happy enough. Had to drill 2 new drainage holes in it last night. It is on it's last legs.

HAHA. Is the ICP still around? They were definitley a unique band.

A friend of mine in Michigan went to high school with some of the members of that band.

That must have been pretty interesting, Andy. they must have been even wilder, when younger.

Can't wait to see pics. When speaking of the 351C vs Windsor, I was thinking just "stock" configuration. "Ellie" was a black & blue Mach 1 that I bought in the eleventh grade and sold after I got out of college to raise enough money to go on my honeymoon (1 week in the Bahamas at the all inclusive "Breezes"). I think my eyes sweated a little after I came back from driving her to the guy's house. He did a cheap restoration and proceeded to trash her. God, I miss her...

On the bright side, 9 years later I'm still married and have an amazing 16month old daughter.

We need pics.

Runnin wit da hatchet is a great logo.

I wear a "00" Psychopathic Records Baseball Jersey in Fall and Spring which make me look stunning as well. Bought in in 2000 at The Gathering. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Nice score!!

Peace.
