So, I have a pretty fine collection of blades... a few redundant duplicates and triplicates as well...

Last week I happened upon a deal on a car (2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder) that was just too sweet to pass up. Unfortunately things are tight this month (and will likely remain so for a while). Despite that... I made a deal on the car (to be paid in a few days) and I sold a grip of blades last week, and still have a few on the 'chopping block' right now... to give me the cash for the car...

Anybody else out there liquidate one prized possession to get another?
Will i regret this?

it is not necessity, as i already have transportation and stuff, its more of a toy/luxury... but in 10 years I wont have the car or the blades, whereas if I did not get the car then in 10 years I would likely still have the blades... go figure.

Thats a tough one - cars definitely don't last forever - at least mine don't!

MR2's are sweet though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

For a slightly different example, my Dad told me about selling some coins that he really enjoyed to get tuition money. It's always about opportunity costs. Just make sure you're getting what you want and don't worry about it.

I always sell the ones(knives) that dont really fit me. I tend to make a rule knife money is for more knives and gun money is for more guns. I would make an exception to a nice vehicle. I am wanting a Jeep or Jimmy real bad.

I've sold a few prizes to get new ones...I could say I regret some of those decisions but I've always learned and gained in some way so, no regrets... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Cool...
I am definitely getting the car... but somethings gotta give... and unfortunately, blades it is...

The car MR2 (Mid engine, Rear drive, 2 seater). 2200 pounds... not much power but fairly quick as its so light. I have always had a spyder, or 3 the past 4 years, but my one current one is down for a big build (motor swap) and I am sans spyder for almost a year now... and its driving me crazy.

My first spyder (silver)

I made into a nitrous swilling turbo monster until she finally blew.. She did get quite fast... and she is getting a new engine now, but she is caged up and with the power to weight ratio I am giving her, she will be more for the street and the straights, and less for the (turning) track

My second spyder was much the same (look) but fairly stock (silver, red seats, just beind the first spyder)

She was a nice daily, and I did a few suspension tweaks to make her track worthy.... but I sold her when my first child came.

Third spyder I made into a track king... massive upgrades from superchager, all suspension/brakes, etc... and spent about 2 years hitting the streets of willow springs and buttonwillow with her.. She could throw you out of your seat with the breaks or the steering wheel... But alas, I sold her when news of the second child came.

Now I am pissing around in this:

Don't get me wrong, I love the truck, and it works out great for us... but i miss my little gokarts... Especially now that we have just added a camper shell... (no more offroad/jumping)

I miss the daily, and the time on the track... so next week I get this one:

High miles, currently has a dented 1/4 panel, and chips in front bumper, rear bumper has scratches, and chips in windshield... but I got a great deal, and will finally be back in something sultry.

I think i will miss my blades, some of them anyhow... but top down in LV can't come soon enough... and I am not ready to kiss away my track days, and seeing how my other spyder will be less of a track car with its current build... THis one is perfect. A few suspension tweaks, toss on my old braces and wheels/tires, and I am good to go.

Awesome car ,I love MR2's and have a 03 Civic SIR. Before that I had a 92 Sentra SER. Lightweight jap sports cars rule. A 2000 pound car does not need 400HP to go fast and will handle better than almost any other car. My friend had a V6 Feiro
(the good one) that was an incredible car.

Take a car like the Spyder add some tastefull mods and maybe a turbo and you have something that is more fun to drive than any 70 000$ BMW or classic muscle car.
I am more into bikes now but anything with a really good power to weight ratio is cool.

I sold my DF to fund the purchase of a real WW2 FS Dagger. I want the DF back but I would do it again because that FS dagger is such an important piece of history.
