I'd like to see what new steel Dan has found.. I'd like to think Dan left the micarta where it belongs in the dumpster!
A yard mora could be good but not in sr77. An edc needs to be highly corrosion resistant- much more so than a chopper imho.

I love 440C ,it is just as tough and has just as good as edge retention as D2 but with the best corrosion resistance of any knife steel. It also takes a wicked polish.

I'm fine with 1/4"+ stock on the big knives like the DF. However, I would like to see 3/16" stock on the smaller 4-5" knives. Something else that would be great on the smaller knives would be some distal taper (thinner at the point than at the hilt). I have a Cold Steel Carbon V Master Hunter and 3/16" stock with distal taper is ideal at this knife size. I haven't seen anything from the Busse family ground this way though.

An SS4, or any SYKCO knife in 440C would be fine with me. With the Busse heat treat, it would be plenty tough and sharp. I kind of doubt that Busse would use such a "common" steel, but it would be a great steel for the climate I'm in.

Only when some unfortunate makes any statement even remotely critical of a Busse knife.
I'm sorry you think that way, but its just not true. Its this jaded view, and the reaction to a simple request to stay on topic that makes my mind up on one thing...... I'll see the more level headed Busse family fans on the other two forums.....

I'm still waiting to get my first Scrap Yard, next Dog Father standard run. After that a standard Scrapper 6. I would prefer the knife line stay the way it is until I get caught up with the line. I was just talking to a man I met in a Sportsmans Warehouse this afternoon....he was looking at knives. He had never even heard of Scrap Yard Knives. IMHO there is still a good market for the current line.

I am pretty sure the old Bog Dog from Swamp Rat with a mudder Res C handle fit the bill. I was on their site awhile ago asking them to bring it back out with a Howling Rat LM or Ratmandu handle. A mudder handle over here at the Yard would be great too though. I don't really even care what the steel is because they won't make anything that isn't strong enough for everything I do. +1 for Scrapper Mora +1 for THIN, DM and Yardkeeper are both too thick for me.
Be prepared.......It is more than a motto it is a way of life.
