I have been a way for awhile....life had been a little crazy for me. But I'm back now and for good!
So I had a little free time on my hands (finally!) and got bored. I usually get creative and tend to do some interesting things when bored. And so I decided to modify/fix/clean up some knives of mine.
Both knives were given to me by my father, a Buck 110, and a Charles Daly made in china pseudo 110.
The poor Buck was missing the first 1/4 inch of the blade (it's not a screwdriver or a prybar Dad!) and I was able to get the blade replaced, but with only the standard 420 grade blade <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. So I took matters into my own hands and tore it down into it's individual components and replaced the blade with something better and did the same with the scales<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
As for the Charles Daly, it received a transplant and got a polished made in the USA 110 blade, MUWAHAHAHA. I've felt like Dr. Frankenstein these past few nights. SO, here is what came out of the lab.....(que eerie organ music)
The other side....and don't mind the finger prints <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

And while I was at it, I tried my hand at some file work....the Buck originally looked much better, the vine was much more pronounced, but I failed to fit the spine prior to assembly and ended up sanding down some of the surface in order to get it flush <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />. The Pseudo 110 got crazy treatment and I added some thorns and unthorns(oops). I didn't butcher them too bad, so I feel pretty good about the results. Besides, you got to start somewhere....
Unfortunately, I'm hooked. I am now looking at all my knives, thinking who's next.
And while I was in the garage I finally set up the belt grinder so I could fix an egde on a Nighthawk I had bought that was 'sharpened'<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> by the previous owner and I had way too much fun. Before I was through I was eyeballing the extra brushhog blades <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
I'll be around some more and I still have some pics of the AR I built but failed to post. Hope you enjoy these pics.
