Some more ice pictures for you gentlemen. ![[Linked Image from momaw.kikaimegami.com]](http://momaw.kikaimegami.com/ice6.jpg) ![[Linked Image from momaw.kikaimegami.com]](http://momaw.kikaimegami.com/ice7.jpg) Tuesday was warm and rainy, and our pond ice melted. Then the temperatures went back down overnight and the ice started growing. But now the water was much higher thanks to the rain and steadily falling through the night thanks to the spillway being side open. What you see are ice crystals frozen in mid-development and what amounts to thermal contour lines. My theory is that a given level of the ice grows until surface tension and the ice's stiffness can no longer keep it in contact with the water, and then a new layer begins growing.

You know how you talk to someone who isn't into your hobby or area of expertise and you ask them a simple question, like, "What engine do you have in your Mustang?" or "That's a great picture of Bigfoot, what lens did you use?" and their response to either question is, "A big one. I'm not sure exactly."
This has always driven me nuts. How can you spend money on something and not know what it is? It just always strikes me as a lack of interest. Well, I just bought a Swamp Rat knife from a forum member and for the life of me, I can't remember which model it is. It's a big one though.
This is usually an indicator to me that I've really lost interest in that particular field. It's kinda like when I was taking photos of some of my guns and I found a Sig that I didn't remember having bought. It was still in the original packaging and obviously never fired.
With that said I think I'm done with knives for awhile. I have other areas of interest coming to the fore now. I'll still be hanging out here and some of the other forums, but I doubt I'll be buying many more knives.
Thanks for listening to this long meaningless rant. Just doing some self evaluating today. me too, ted. i've really felt no enthusiasm for it lately. i'm still going to get the busse khukri if i'm able, but for the most part i think i'm done. i've been all guitar lately. still been checking the yard, though. that sig's mine. i accidentally dropped it in the last package of lanyards. you can shoot it before you send it back, if you want.

I played the guitar for a number of years until everybody stop going to practice. Then I got tired of playing by myself. Didn't touch my guitar ever since...I wonder if I can still play like I used to...

Well I would'nt say that I am "tired" of my knives but I have become "tired" of being a driven led consumer on knives...basically a never ending collector...I want to pair down my knives to a "reasonable" user group. I have took a selection out of the drawers and placed them in the kitchen for ease of evaluation whether used there or taken through to the garden and preping wood. The cost of fuel as high as it is I am burning more and more logs. Here is the first batch... ![[Linked Image from i343.photobucket.com]](http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o445/SteelFan-Infi/100_0332-1.jpg) I am trying to keep my camera more by the conservatory door...so I can take some pic's when I take my knives out...the great thing about being on your own is leaving the kitchen cluttered like this because you want to... The down side is you cannot do stuff and easily photograph at the same time. Still...I love the silence and freedom...the true upside of the Divorce!

right now the only thing on my mind is the word 'virtuoso.' i've got a project guitar in my mind that's going to combine all my heroes' guitars into a single instrument. (basswood singlecut, 24.75" scale, 24 frets, bolt on, dimarzio breed, wilkinson ez-lok tuners, alpha potentiometers, white on white and a custom inlay)
i also want a vai legacy.

I can do with only the CGFBM and DFLE in the 10" bowie range. couldn't part with the hell razor or sarQ, and the skinny ash1 would be difficult to let go.

Like yourself I will probably never be able to put most of my knives to hard use. It doesn't stop me from making the collection even bigger tho
