So I sliced up an orange with the S-1 and tried to get super thin cuts. I snapped a pic where you can see the flavedo and the spherical multicellular bodies containing the essential oils. Crazy close-up! This is actually smaller than a pinky nail. I can't help but wonder what fun it would be to take pics with a really nice camera! If the stimulus goes through it's a done deal, I'll be getting a canon.

Which Canon are you thinking of getting? What do you want it to do, which your current camera does not do?
