I'm curious as well. At the last Blade-Atlanta show, I sat next to Lynn Thompson while sipping a Coke at the tables toward the back where a few vendors were located. I struck up a conversation with him, and asked how the newer Sk5 steel compared to the old Carbon V. He answered straight out; "not as good". I didn't ask about 4116 Krupps. I have several older Cold Steel Carbon V knives, and they really aren't bad for the money, though not up to Busse standards. Mag's review should be interesting! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

That old Carbon V was great steel. And I have it on good authority that Busse has a pile of it. It was made by Sharon steel, which is out of business. Camillus and many others used that steel under many names like Cro-Van and 50-100B, and 0170-6C and such. Recently Mike Stewart of Bark RIver got about 30 Carbon V blanks from the Camillus sell off. I was going to order that same one as mag but haven't heard from him ? I belive that the steel ( SK5) was the same as Noss tested ( Cold Steel Bush) ? Looked pretty darn impressive or to say the least very tough- especially for something to beat on ? Maybe mag will report in. I think they are on sale for like 50 bucks. Be nice at that price for a beater for sure. Let me know-Thanks

(700 lumen flashlight) there is a flashlight i saw on some site that only sold to military and police type people (sorry i cant find the right words its championship day!) it was like 1200lumen or some crazy amount. talk about a good tactical light. youd burn the persons cornea!
