Why would you want something so thick with a short blade? Cobalt doesn't operate from the standpoint of reason, Rich. Cobalt operates from the standpoint of DESIRE! And as we all know, desire doesn't have to have a reason. you know me well

I don't know, I thought thicker was better untill I got my Mud Razor. It's 3/16" and chops well for it's size.
I think the beauty of Infi, SR-101 and SR-77 is that they can make a thin blade that will handle lots of abuse.
For anything smaller than a Hell Razor, 3/16" is fine.
I have a Public defender that is ~1/4" and it's complete overkill. I like it but it's not a slicer, it's not a chopper. If I had to hack through a block of reinforced concrete it would be better than an SS4 but how often do you need to do that?
A Howling Fat is a good idea but a fatty SS4 would not impress me much.
Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.

The same reason I am getting an Off Duty.....I like short FAT knives.....why wouldn't you want one? Because cutting performance is severely impacted as you go thicker and cutting (as opposed to chopping) is generally what you do with a 4-5" knife. I'm all for thick blades on Dog Fathers, Battle Rats, Battle Mistresses, etc., just not the little blades. If thicker is better, why not make an SS4 out of 1/2" or 5/8" stock, why stop at .28"? But to each their own.

Ohhhh a 5/8ths....now your talking!!!!! Why stop with a 3/8ths. I like fat blades....so far I never encountered a problem with any thickness on any blade. The only exception is a fillet knife, but there in lies a specific tool for a specific job. But like you said to each their own. Give me a fatty any day!

Off Duty, looks more like Cold Chisel. If a Skeleton key can go through a cinder block, what is that thing made for? I guess it's ok but I think I know why there is only one.
