I have been trying to keep a 10 min/mile pace for 5K. I just have to get fast enough so I won't be embarrassed in the race. If I can just get back down to 30 min or under for the 5k I will be happy.

It was interesting, one of the things I read on that site was that you need to complete the distance more than the speed in starting out.

I started by using Higdons training.
The first marathon i signed up for,they
sent be a free booklet for training.
I followed it and did finish the marathon.
5:15 minutes. so a nice,slow 12 mpm pace.

You out there in Montana must have some great places to run!
I would love to go out there and run on some of your trails.
Thats where running longer distances come in... you get
a real chance to get into the back country or deep
into the woods when you run 20 miles or so.

Awesome. The whole marathon thing keeps running through my mind. (no pun intended) but I have to run a 5K 1st. Plus I seem to do most of my running on the treadmill and running outside is a lot different.

Why cant you get outsidre to run?

Last year I was traveling almost every week and it was easier just to run on the hotel treadmill than find a route. Now it is more just that I don't run outside than I can't.

Treadmill isnt good...
I dont like it at all.
I run outside 100%.
All winter long too,snow,rain,doesnt matter.
You sweat,so whats it matter if you get

I actually thought I would hate the treadmill when I started, but for ease of routine it is hard to beat for me.

Well,its good to train on the surface your
gonna be running on.
Anyway,Im a running nut.
I could go on and on...
I have done a few 50k's already.
Did one april 4th actually.
Advice to you,just run the distance,dont worry about speed.
Dont increase distance more than 10% a week.
That will keep injuries at bay.

yeah. I need to at least start mixing it more.
