Rather than posting lots of photos with almost no knife content, I'll just post a link to the slideshow...

Deschutes River, OR - Memorial Day Weekend '08

Enjoy!

The trip was awesome as usual. I'm really looking forward to the Stainless Dogs, which will really be at home on the water and around camp. The other guys on the trip were really impressed with the way the DF handled the firewood. They were equally impressed by the firesteel method of fire starting.

Great pics, mtrspeed. Now that was a real Memorial Day getaway. Beautiful country. Nice fishing, too.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Fabulous pics Mtrspeed. It brought back lots of good memories of fishing the salmonfly hatch with my buddy many years back. Deschutes redsides rock! And they'll bite on really lousy salmonfly imitations you tie yourself.

The Deschutes is one of the most unique rivers I've ever fished. I caught my first steelhead on a fly on the Deschutes. And it can be very exciting in a drift boat.

Thanks, all. One of these years I really do need to hit the Deschutes in the fall for steelhead. An alternative we're considering is the John Day for a "cast and blast" - bring the shotguns and go for the mixed bag of chuckar, quail, ducks, smallmouth, and steelhead! Float, camp, hunt, fish... I might not ever return.

I agree with Kraz - nothing like a steelhead on the fly.

Btw, the pheasant chili (another thread) prepared for this trip was a big hit.
