The A2 Aviator seems to be real popular with the flashlight guys.

Yeah I looked at that.

I almost bought a executive elite awhile back, didn't know it only had a hour of bat life.

Think the outdoorsman should be good.

You have a surefire right.

i have a G2,P6 and E2L OUTDOORSMAN.

i really cant say enough good about the E2L.mine is an older one with only one setting of 45 lumens with a 14hr run time.

i just love it.use it constantly.its been banged around a bit and had some pretty good drops on hard surfaces with no problems.

when i get the LED conversions for the G2 and 6P maybe i will use them but until then they collect dust.i usually need between 4-5 hours of light.not the 1 hour they produce and their incandescent bulbs burn out very quickly as well and are more fragile since they contain gasses in the bulb.

if you really want the two settings than you'll need the E2L but if not the newer G2 and 6P LED versions you can get 80 lumens for 12 hours which is pretty good and cheaper than the E2L.

all surefire lights are great but i would highly recomend the LED versions because a one hour run time is a pain, the 123A batts arent cheap and you can still keep the high lumens if needed.

I would recommend the Surefire 6P LED. Lots of light, great battery life and tough as nails. There are two items that I never leave home without, and the 6P LED is one of them.

I just bought a Fenix TK10 and I love it. It throws tons of light and is more durable and has longer battery life with LEDs.

I also have a tiny single CR123 Ultrafire LED that fits on a keychain and is more powerful than a huge maglight.

Macgregor, to me it sounds like the best choices would be the L1 and the E2L. I believe with the new generation of Cree LEDs that surefire now uses ican lights are dead in pocket lights.

The 6PL is another light to consider, although noticeably larger then either of the former mentioned lights. The diameter is going to make a difference in pocket carry, and it also goes not have a clip. My big complaint is that the 6P is not type 3 hard anodized, meaning it will not hold up like the other two lights over time.

Unsub, Ive never seen a fenix more durable then a surefire, and Ive seen dozens of each. It should also be mentioned the fenix over states their run times much more then surefire.
