This is the original thread: DMCGUSP

So I attached the camera pouch with some large wire ties, granted not the best method of attachment but I was going for the project using solely what I had lying around.

I added a photom freedom micro 2 and blaze orange reflective para cord,

some of the contents:

county comm widgy bar
mini bic
survival saw
SAK pioneer electrician( I'd like to replace this and the saw with the SAK electrician)

all of the contents:

Petzl e-Lite
ACR whistle
Mag-ferro rod
ACR mirror
duct tape
tylenol case full of tinder quick
40' of triptease
chlorine dioxide tabs
triple antibiotic
1 gallon foodsaver bag with a spout sealed into it

I think the pouch might be too fat, I'm trying to cook up something more streamlined. We'll see... this is a good kit for now though, it's gonna go in my truck.

Ideas, suggestions???

I think I'm gonna add a sharpie ot a space pen stowaway, and some right in the rain paper.

This is a general SHTF survival kit?

- spool of dental floss. Remarkably strong for its weight, and even a small spool is a hell of a lot. Can serve as snare tripwire, light fishing line (quite stout if you braid it), arrow fletch binding, repair thread...

- fish hooks

- fairly heavy needle for patch work.

- a couple more zip ties could be handy, they are sometimes easier to use than tying or taping. If your SAK has a tiny flat screwdriver to pop the latch you can even reuse them a bunch. Even if the latch loses its springiness and doesn't grip well, you can shove a splinter in there to lock it up good.

- plain birthday candle: source of wax for lubrication or waterproofing. Also has obvious uses in fire starting.

Trying to think of small handy things that won't add a lot of bulk. You've already got the bigger tools.

Even better for firestarting are the "trick" birthday candles that re-light if blown out.

Momaw and Andy, all good ideas, I'll probably add the floss and needle but no fish hooks, If I'm lost that long that I need to fish or starve... I figure I'm dead anyway. I'm setting this up for use to get myself out of a nasty situation as fast as possible.

As for the trick candles, I can't find them anywhere around here.

You can buy 'em on the net. Try Google.

This may sound like a dumb question, but how do the trick candles actually work?
