How many would like to have the option of a custom shop order capability?
If Dan can manage this I think it would be great.....
The Res C handles make these knives in my view the best users but steel choice would be a real bonus for a custom shop option.
If I could order an Infi DMDC, DFLE, and a Res C FSH and a Res C Kukri I think I would sell the majority of my other knives....everything I would want would be in those....
What do you all think? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Maybe if we were all agreed it would be good....Renee could raise the issue with Dan, what do you think?

Res C just isn't important to me unless it is on a chopper, where it really helps dampen the shock and vibration of chopping, allowing more work with less fatique. The DMDC is nice, but the ratmandu holds an edge better. As for INFI in a chopper, it also holds an edge better than S7. The SARsquatch won't chop as well as the DFLE, but it carries as well and chops pretty well. I might point out that some well-designed micarta handles seem to work better than others in a chopper. Wait until you use your BRKT Golok and you'll see what I mean. And good old 1095 with the right heat treat seems to be tough enough for all the abuse I have dished out and it holds an edge just a bit better than S7. Of course, it ain't INFI.

I'm fine with standard scrappers. Besides, if I were to go with a custom then I'd want it to be more of a collaborative effort between my designs and the knife makers rather then simply a modification to an exisiting design.

I agree with this. If there's ever going to be a custom shop, I want it to be a CUSTOM SHOP. That said, I don't need a custom shop here.

Of course it would be good. It would be like buying a Ford Mustang and leaving it stock...No way! I want longtubes, wild cams, 15 lbs. of boost, high amp alternator, 100 lb. injectors, full MM suspension, battery relocation, rear seats and stereo removed...

It would kind of go against their business model of price to performance ratio. I am ok with not having a SY custom shop.

But what exactly will the updated business model and plan entail? Who knows but SYK and its staff for the time being...
