So far, the MPLE.

#2 and #3 are mysteries still.

I agree, that is one of the 'at a minimum' things that should happen in an offering. Another is a full list of specs....and another is to make 'sticky' threads of the current offering and perhaps even the 'Go'.

Personally, I find the whole 'via email' ganzaa-style offering to be offputting. I guess it might make sense when releasing a bunch of different blades of various quantity, but for a sale of one knife model the store seems more appropriate. And I don't think it's a limitation of the 'shopping cart' software and overselling either. All eCommerce software worth having allows quantities for sale to be set. - I realize I'm probably the only person that doesn't like the email ordering method.

A suggestion, since Renee is the new SY customer service 'go to' person - Can the main knives page on the SY site be updated to include all the previously released knives and variants? That would make sense.. Also, is it possible to look into having more subforums? There is a LOT of traffic on this site, and a lot of the best information is buried/lost in the clutter of old threads. If it were better divided into categories, it would be easier to find information without having to painfully tease it from the search function.

Just to give a different perspective to it when supplies are limited. Most eCommerce sites handle consistent heavy loads ok, however have trouble with MASSIVE load spikes.

Given how hard the dogs hit the bowl, it would take a very good site to both handle the load and not mess up. A very common problem is that orders are actually placed faster than the server can track, resulting in more being sold than are available. This can cause problems... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

That is what happened with the DMDCs & fortunately the Yard decided to honor all orders and produce a second batch to cover them.

With this knife being a limited edition & there being limited quantities available the best solution to controlling orders is good old manual processing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hope this makes sense. I confuse myself at times. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

That does make sense. It is much better to have ordering be a little more difficult than have it not work at all.

I confuse myself all the time. I didn't want an MPLE, then I did. Then I didn't, then I did. Now I don't need one, but later I will.

The thing needs to be overhauled with an explanation of how the company actually works. I vividly remember being a newly arriving customer, and trying to figure out how in hell you bought something. That page does NOT list products for sale, it lists company history. It is very misleading. Assuming the company continues to operate on a "blink and they're gone" basis, that page really serves no purpose whatsoever to new customers: by the time a knife shows up on the 'products' page, it's already sold out.

Good morning dogs. I will take all info into consideration and talk everything over with the man, Dan. As far as the Dog Bowl offerings, these are done like a "ganza" and our ganzas are done by email ordering. These were just "scraps" that I had found and we only had a limited number of these knives.

I am sorry that people are "confused" about offering for the Dog Bowl, I was just trying to "give the dogs a bone"! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Renee - I'm really glad that you threw us a bone! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> It's great that many of our new Pups had a chance for a SYKCO blade. Now, we're ready for round 2 !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I DO think that a picture with the offering notice is a good idea, particularly for the new folks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Keep up the great work, O Goddess of Steel! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
