o.k. guys,i've been hear a little over a year and a half i think and after this post i will be 7 posts away from becoming JYD,what number i do not know.

hears the deal,i cant go to bed tonight until i get this over with so i am going to list the top seven reason i love scrapyard knives with each reason being a new post.

am i cheating on the last 7??...yeah i guess so but i also have only posted in the "death chat" like 3 times at the most which is where a lot of guys build up their post numbers.

so call me a cheater,a looser and maybe a boozer but dont forget to call me
JYD# ???

here we go and feel free to add why you love scrapyard knives

what really attracted me to scrapyard knives was the true "combat grade" of their knives.we talk of CG coating but to me all scrapyard knives are CG to the max.

to me the epitome of this is the CGDM.i fell in love with this knife the second i saw it and its .285 thickness, and on a 5in blade for that matter.that is the knife that sucked me into the scrapyard world and in my mind will always be the epitome of what scrapyard stands for.

PERFORMANCE TO PRICE RATIO

what more can one say.if you are looking for toughness and ruggedness i dont think you can get more bang for your buck than scrapyard knives.hell, you might not get a better bang for any buck.

other blades of other steels and other geometries might slice better or keep and edge longer but they dont want no beef with anything scrapyard or SR77.they'd have to be crazy to step in the ring.

bottom line is if your a soldier,a cop,a private contractor,SAR or someone who just needs or wants a tough,no fail piece of cutlery you will not get a better bang for your buck and a very reasonable buck at that.

where else can you get such toughness for around $100 which i figure is the average price for a scrapper.i dont think there has ever been a scrapyard knife that wasnt under $200 from the company.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

oh my God,a company that actually gives a rats a$$ about its customers is so refashioning in this day of age.

the "bottom line" doesnt seem to be the bottom line with scrapyard knives.we've all had frustrating times on the phone with with some customer service rep of whatever big corporation it is were calling, getting put on hold, transferred and given the run-around while in the long run probably getting nowhere concerning whatever problem it is we had.

i've dealt with people over the phone at all 3 of the busse kin shops and it is always a breath of fresh air.

and while it was a freak thing i have had 2 warranty issues with busse kin and one of them was with scrapyard knives.i was taken extremely good care of and in good time.

i really respect them for the way they handle business and treat their customers/fans/followers

DESIGNS

i just love the designs that scrapyard knives throws out.they are classic and legendary and in some cases literally one of a kind.

for example i cant think of another knife like the CGDM with that thickness and "pitbull" like toughness in a 5in bladed package.

the DFLE is just magic in the hands and truly one of a kind.

anything with "mudder" grips is special in its own right.

i dont know how the design process works at scrapyard, whether dan sits down with some bourbon and draws these knives out or if its a team effort but whatever it is the designs themselves of scrapyard knives have always spoken to me

SR77

this one is for the blade steel itself.the foundation of the whole scrapyard line......SR77.

just perfect in my opinion when brutal strength and "performance to price ratio" are the goal.

while i might choose a DOZIER in D2 steel to cut up an elk i would choose a scrapyard knife for anything that required balls.

nothing fits the term "sharpened prybar" better than a scrapyard knife.lately in some areas of the cutlery world or wilderness & survival communities/forums the term "sharpened prybar" is considered an insult and used in a derogatory way.

1/4 inch thick knives are sometimes picked on,accused of being worthless due to poor edge geometry and being to thick, stereotyped as the choice of mall ninjas, armchair commandos and just unskilled woodsman and that they have no place in the world of cutlery.well my reply is.......dont get me started!!!

bottom line is just look at the pics of the CGDF getting bant in half with the help of a cheater bar and the impacts the S6 took on knifetests.com.

.....nuff said

DAN IS A COOL DUDE

i'm not going to act like i know dan all that well but the bottom line is that i did meet him and my first impression of him was a very good one.

i had the pleasure of spending the evening with a bunch of hogs and dogs and the show was pretty much run by dan & jerry.

from my experience dan is a really fun guy to be around.very down to earth, genuine and with a great sense of humor.

what can i say,he's just s good guy and a cool dude and those that have met him will reiterate that.

the few hours i spent at the '08 busse dinner hosted by dan jerry where some of the best i have had in years.good wholesome fun.

i never did meet patty and i'm not sure if she was even there but i have talked to her over the phone and can say she was very pleasant and genuine also.

just a great company owned/run by great people.

thanks guys

O.K. my fellow puppies, mutts, dogs & bastids this here post is my 1,000th.some people come up with wild, crazy & special things for their 1,000th post but this is all i got ya know.

the yard is my second home.it is what i call my "home forum".i may wonder to other sites and forums but the 'yard is what i call home.

the 'yard has a vibe all its own.it is one that is very peaceful, close, informative, relaxed, drama free & wholesome even with knuckle heads like myself roaming around.

my goal in life and here is to be and stay honest even if its not always convenient and i apologize for any feathers i could've ruffled along the way.

i have asked myself why and how this forum stays so positive and trouble free and i think its probably due to the diligent work of its incredible and fair moderators and the foundation that dan laid down in the first place.

you guys are all just plain out "good dudes" and there are some very informative and smart guys here as well for learning purposes who are very willing to share and help in anyway they can.

so for my 1,000th post i would like to say THANK YOU to the yard, its founders and all its members for being a place to hang,a place to learn and a place to share.

while i may be biased i truly believe the 'yard is one of a kind and the greatest knife forum on the world wide web and i thank all you dogs, hogs, rats and cross-breeds for that.

hey,by the way, does anybody know what JYD# i am now??

Congrats man!

Not sure I'll ever make JYD in my lifetime. I suppose I'd have to resort to mindless posting in the death chat otherwise.
