Banned Ruck.

Both the AK and Ruck are awesome, but the like most Busses, factory edge isn't great for the chopping we do.

so many blades that I missed out on that I wish they would re release, thank god I was able to get the Mistress, which was always my most desired

Yep, I agree. The FBM is a must have Busse. Any Busse fan should own at least one in any configuration. I tend to prefer a CGFBM for a all around great user. The FSH is also a great little brother of the FBM that compromises some chopping performance for a bit more compactness and utility.

I got to handle an AK and a Ruck at K.C. and in the past I have owned a Japanese WWII Officers Katana....basically a proper Samurai Sword....made in 1908....the sword felt a little better but the AK was very close in feel....the Ruck is a large Tanto in comparison....here in the UK I picked up the Katana for £1000 and sold it a few years later for £1200. That is about $2000 give or take......the edge and hamon were superb...the maker was a governor of a japanese prison who had trained with the last of the great makers and went on to train prisoners how to make them in the 1930's when Japan was arming itself for WWII. I was lucky on the price I paid and it was a superbly crafted piece but you would not want to use it....not like you can an AK or Ruck...sadly I sold it and I regret it now....my Chiropractor was or is an Iado (sp?) master and I showed it to him and he went "crazy" over it...at least my back is now "pain free"....which is a cool trade if you have ever suffered from this type of thing.

I like the Ruck.

I like the Ruck quite a bit myself. It is better for single-hand swings and more forward balance than the AK. The AK is better suited for 2 hand use and can generate some serious leverage while chopping. It would be tough to choose between the two. Luckily I have both and don't have to make that decision

Yea, I think if I had both I find a way to be happy with them...

I've had a Ruck in the shop for pants, and it was fun to baby sit it for a little while... I was sad when it was time for it to go home though... I feel very fortunate to have an AK though, so I can't complain.

Mr. Pink and Ban

Thanks for the pics, that serrated AK looks evil. I like it, was that something done at the shop?

I think that serrated AK is a one of a kind done by the Busse Custom Shop.

Are the serrations put into the AK for chopping foilage...like a machete?
Would'nt the serrations make it less effective on chopping wood?

I believe all those AKs belong to Eric Isaacson and it looks like he has an extensive collection and might have sent in one of his factory AKs to get it modded for the hell of it. It has the factory logo and not the custom shop logo, and the custom shop has put that serration (or similar to it) on a few of their blades. I think they're just for aesthetic reasons.
