I wore the stones out on my lansky it's time to move on to bigger and better. I would like to hear personal reviews from anyone who owns a Tormek or Edge Pro or any other top line sharpener.

Help me decide which one to put on my Christmas list.

I've used a Lansky off and on for years for fine precise edges. I also heard more than one person give high marks to the Spyderco Sharpmaker and Chef'sChoice. But with a little practice a nice small belt sander along with some good belts are hard to beat.

Horn Dog is one option but, I don't think he would like living in my tool closet and it would really freak out my kids, also he would starve to death being locked in the closet, well, I might feed him enough to stay alive for knife sharpening purposes.

don't all jump on the bandwagon, kids.

where the hell has vic been, anyway?

to keep this post somewhat on topic, get some flat diamond stones in course, medium, and fine.

i also fully endorse the lansky dog bone, 1x30 harbor freight, and the sandpaper method.

A belt sander is not an option for two reasons; first is speed of the belt and effects of extreme heat I don't want to screw up the temper and, second with out a guide or something to hold the angle to the belt I am afraid if I try to sharpen freehand it would look like Micheal j Fox sharpened my blades.
