Still alive. That Momaw, he's a stubborn one.

We lost our phone line and thus internet access on Friday evening, hence my silence. Perhaps I give myself too much credit when I think that somebody might have worried. :P Just noticed a few minutes ago that our phone is back so I thought I'd give y'all a ring.

I'll have more information and some photos to share soon I hope.

We're down to less than 100,000 people without power here in New Hapmshire. (no, we're still running off a generator)

I'd really like to see the pictures man.
Glad that things are going ok for you even though you
are still running on generator. I can understand the
need for one.
Bought one this fall just in case too.

Cheers man!!

We got hit real hard here last year about this time with a serious ice storm. My parents did not have electicty for 3 weeks. Ice sure can make the woods look like a barage area. Glad you are back up and running.

Momaw,

How are things going for you now?
Better I hope

We're in a kind of a deep freeze here in the west of Canada.
Been using a hair dryer to thaw out my truck door locks and latches
all week so far, and it looks like it's going to get colder
as we head into the weekend.

Hope things are ok with ya man!!!

Cheers

Still no power here. I saw a bunch of dump trucks driving by on Monday (the chippers blow into them) and Tue/Wed there were a dozen utility trucks roaming. So I guess they're working on this road. But it's miles long so when we'll actually get service restored is still unknown to me.

It was pretty crazy here. We went into Wallie's World a few days ago to pick up some Coleman white gas, and they were totally out. They were also out of the handy little 1Lb propane cylinders that are popular for heaters and camp stoves; those things were selling so fast that a whole pallet would be gone in minutes. Also flashlights were scarce on the ground, though curiously, only the cheap ones. There were plenty of good 20-30$ lights by Mag and Princeton. I'm not sure whether that's because people are only buying the cheap ones (definitely a case of getting what you pay for, in this product area) or whether they just got a shipment.

Generator's still going just fine. I can recommend DeVillbiss CDGT3010 (3000W) as a fairly solid piece of equipment. We're leaning rather heavily on it. If it does die, one of my friends in the area got her power back and said we can borrow her genny if we need it.

Temperatures in the low 20's. Got two inches of snow yesterday, followed by a little bit of freezing rain. First time this year it's looked like winter or Christmas. We're supposed to be getting a bunch more snow tomorrow, on the order of three to five inches.

Definitely some interesting things on around here as far as social dynamics in adversity.
