Let me start by saying that I am not usually a collector type, and I don't keep a knife that doesn't see some work. At least not for long. I have a new SOD LE that I haven't been able to convince myself to test. Mainly because if it doesn't do things better than my S6, I am likely to sell it. I am a huge fan of the S6 and I have purchased several other knives in this size such as the Busse NOE and CGASH1. I kept them for some time but was unable to put a mark on them for the same reasons. The SODLE feels so good in the hand though and didn't cost such a forture, I am more inclined to put it to the test against the S6. However, I was wondering what others with both knives feel. How does the SOD stand up to the S6? The size may make the SOD slightly better for chopping, but anything else I'm not so sure.

I think both knives are great all-arounders. It all comes down to what you use the knife for the most. The SOD is the better chopper, but the S6 is such a great light handling knife, it would be better for skinning and some bushcraft chores. It is also more compact and lighter for carry. I am a Scrapper 6 lover from way back, but this SOD LE may be the one to replace it as my personal favorite medium to large size Scrapper. It is sweet.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I must admit, the SODLE feels great and I love the uncoated blade. I need to get my hands on a S6LE.

Same here guys. I have an S6- and all three SODs. I like them so much I am keeping all and sniffing for another S6 and dream of an S6LE. Vic says it perfectly above

The SOD is sweet but IMO the S6 is sweeter

Finally being the owner of a Third World Grind Shop Scrapper Six and a new Tan Son of Dog Father I can only say that I think the SoD will find more use in the growing seasons here in Wisconsin not Winter. The S-6 is a joy to wear to work and all day and night without knowing it's even on! It rides light and handles like a Yard Keeper! I love it for food prep and any household chore I have met so far.

The SoD reminds me of my Hook. It is thick and feels heavy. I see it being much more like a Dog Father. Using it for trees, shrubs, garden digging and splitting wood for fires.

Keeping both when you don't like to collect...change your mind.

Don't see it as collecting blades but realize that you own two knives from a highly touted company that will serve you in different ways. Knives that one day you may pass down to your sons or daughters.
A couple of blades that you can bet your life and even more so your family's life on! These Scrap Yard Knives will never fail. They will not let you down.
They will continue to make you feel good about your purchase and using them for a lifetime. Be proud of how many you own and how you use them.
Each in their own ways is one of the simple pleasures I derive from using a specific blade for specific chores. Find the pride and joy that they give you to own and pass down as a good father.

Peace.

Very, very difficult choice.
Don't envy you the choice either.
I'm in the same boat as well.
You, like me, may have to come to terms with the fact
that we are collectors of users, then make sure that
we use all knives in a rotating schedule

On the bright side, they are just about the toughest knives
going, and will last you for the rest of your life, no matter
what you do to them!!!

You make a heck of a case POP.... LOL It may be easier with the Scrappers, because of price, than with some of the others that have come and gone in my life. So far I don't have any regrets with my sales of knives like I do with some of the firearms I've let go over the years. Thanks for the responses. The SOD may not get used right away, but will stay around for the forseable future.

DOTD, I may have to start looking at it the way you do. Not just looking for the best user in each size range, but aquiring multiples for rotation. I guess I have been looking at it the way I look at firearms. Sticking to a certain platform and becoming proficient in that.. At least for competition and self defense. I guess I do have a few that I just like to shoot once in a while though.

Sound decision Bladz!

Winter is a s l o w cutting time all around. When the "growing" season comes again I am sure you will find which blade you reach for on certain tasks and why. It's only natural to do so and surely then you will find the love growing for both in their own respects. I for one can't wait to use the Son for all my "Mini Dog Father" needs! I know it will be a true banger!
The Six is just as happy in the kitchen and garden for me. But I only had fall to appreciate the S-6 so this Spring i am pumped up about using all of those big Scrappers in Spring clean up around the yard! Then drag them into planting,pruning,picking,weeding,trimming,pruning,cutting... oops sorry. I got carried away in the spirit!

Great spring is only two more moths away so hang on tight to both and enjoy the experience in Spring Bladz! You deserve it!!

Peace.

I would pick the SoD LE over the S6 if I could only keep one. A larger knife can function as a smaller knife in a pinch but not the other way around. A 7" blade is really the minimum to be an effective chopper so the SoD is more functional for just a bit more weight.

That being said, I would try really hard to keep both.
