Just to let you guys know, I did wash the handle and it feels better. It was odd to me that the muddier felt better wet than dry as I washed it!
I've washed the handles on my Howling Rat and Camp Tramp before, but since I just got the SS4 and it was unused, it didn't occur to me it probably has been handled a lot.
Thanks much! Much better!
Think after my wife gets photos off the camera and it's less crazy cold, I want to test the HR and SS4 against each other.
The SS4 has pants on the way from Jeff! Can't wait!

my DFLE has been used so much that the res-c on that one is significantly smoother than on any other large res-c handled scrapper or rat i own.
i wear leather palmed gloves every time and think that probably wears it down faster than my skin would.

Hey folks,
Just have them one one knife, my SS4 and was wondering if people scuff them up for improved grip? I like it, it just isn't as easy to grip as my Howling Rat.
Thanks
Rich I've found the mudder handles to be better than the plain Res-c or mikarta when they become covered in blood and animal fat. They allow a better grip under those conditions.
I told my wife I wanted to be cremated. She made me an appointment for tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like a Bog Dog to me. Here's a borrowed pic: IIRC, the Bog Dog was the progenitor of mudder-gripped Busse family knives. That was back in the days when Swamp Rat used Res-C and actually made knives, of course. That's one FINE looking blade. Thanks ... Now I have something else to want after. LOL!

I don't own one but I have a DogSkinner which is the same in Micarta and it is one great knife.
