What a great Easter present to his family. I know this much, that Captain is a true Captain. He took care of his crew, and did not give up on trying to escape. Good job by the SEAL's too.

I read it earlier, great story!

I wonder how this is going to play out in the future, as I'm sure more pirates will attempt this again. They'll definitely be more prepared next time, as will the ships, but I don't think the ship can match the pirates firepower. Also, the pirates can take the hostage back into their land. This could get ugly.

I was planning on taking a cruise with some friends, and even though this happening elsewhere, the thought of it is pretty scary.

A number of the pirates are already armed with everything from AKs to RPGs and they have used them all. So I think they are already prepared. The difference now is that folks are fighting back. With a bit of luck things will get too dangerous which will scare them off of the easy fishing that they have had up until now.

The RPG's they have were designed to shoot through NATO tank armor so I am sure it would go through the hull of most ships. It is unfortunate that it has got to this point. I do believe the pirates/terrorists will continue their current actions until they are truly made to be believers.

That is good news. I don't see this stopping anytime soon until the risks outweigh the rewards... And even then we will see...

The ships just need to fight back. I think they have every RIGHT to defend themselves however necessary be that RPGs, machine guns, whatever.

I agree. During WWII Merchant Marine ships were armed, during the Korean War MM were armed, during Viet-Nam the MM was armed. So why can;t they be armed now during this war on terrorism?
